I've been an archer for a while, but I wanted to try out the other classes, so I made a new character as a warrior. This was great, because it allowed me to redo the opening spawn scene. I noticed that one of the starter NPCs made a remark about the player being from from (screencap included below)



@faragoo mentioned on an earlier thread (from when Gavel was first released) that

I think that this theory has a lot of merit, because as more of the world is unveiled, more of the backstory is unveiled as well. @SPYROHAWK pointed out that humans are actually native to Wynn, but the player comes from Fruma, meaning that humans and other species exist in more than just one province.

I think that the spawn scene is something we tend to look past a lot because it occurs when we first start, but it contains a lot of useful information for the backstory of Wynn. Why is Wynn taking recruits from Fruma? Does this tell us something more about the state of Fruma? What are we trying to fight, anyway? Are we just joining the king's army, or is there something more?

Maybe I'm just reading a little too much into this, and maybe other people have talked about it before, but I just wanted to share some interesting pieces of information that I noticed.

I guess we don't know for now, but hopefully everything will be unveiled Soon™, when the long-awaited update arrived.

Ok so. Yes the player comes from Fruma. The player is called to wynn to fight corruption.

The player comes from Fruma, he is called to Wynn by the King of Ragni to fight off the Corruption, just like Bob did before us, which tells us that Fruma musn't be affected by the Corruption nor the Darkness, since it can spare soldiers (there is also a debate regarding the number of soldiers sent, is it only the player ? Or is every player a different recruit ? Here, it matters not, because if there are multiple players then Fruma is doing great since it sends many people far away, or there is only one, and since Fruma sends only ONE man to fend off a powerful force, the player must be powerful and so Fruma is in great shape for it to afford loosing a precious element). Also, this means Fruma and Wynn are probably allies. Fruma lends a helping hand to Wynn in times of need when Gavel shut itself off, letting Wynn deal with the havoc it has brought over itself (opening the Nether, which led to the Corruption). I also feel like the King of Ragni knows a lot more than he tells us, he wasn't really surprised by the rise and the downfall of Amadel and everything involved with that. Maybe he requested us specifically because he knew we would be up to the task.

Since Fruma is the player's home province shouldn't theree be a quest about it's origins.

My current belief is that nothing is really "native" to Wynn in the way we see it. The humans, the villagers, the corruption. None of it.

Wynn was an empty province before the humans came from Fruma. Now I did figure all this out recently, so I don't have this written anywhere (yet) but I do believe I always said humans came from Fruma.

If you could find where I say humans are native to Wynn, that would be great.

But as what you are saying over-all, I agree. Something is taking the world by storm, something terrifying. The darkness that originated from Dern's dimension. It caused the corruption and (if I am right in my current theory of things) created Desolation. The world IS coming to a slow apocalypse, and only Darkness and The Eye are to blame.

I think that there's more than just the player, as the NPC says "the rest already went ahead" during the spawn scene. They mention a "new batch of recruits" so I think that Fruma helps Wynn by sending over a few players at a time, as the caravan from the start couldn't (theoretically) hold more than 10 people.
