the +attack is terrible

 

The very low -% spell damage for this cancer actually acts as more +tier attack speed, since most cancers have -130% or more spell damage. The main bonus about the cancer is its near max lifesteal, which is amazingly useful for certain builds lacking survivability. The attack speed might be low, but if you are wearing a cancer, your build is bound to lean towards dexterity items. Most weapons with sole high dexterity requirements are geared towards normal to super fast attack speed, making higher tiers useless. The only reason why +tier is valued so highly on cancer currently is because of the bug that increases spell damage, when it should increase attack speed instead. However, when this glitch is fixed I doubt there will be as many alkatraz/ Petrified Horror+Cancer builds anymore. Let's say for example someone continued to use alkatraz+Cancer even after the bug fix, with a +13 tier speed at -140% meleedamage. The alkatraz can hit over 3 times a second for around 2000 damage, but due to the negative melee it will only deal 800 damage, for a total of 2,133 damage a second. We also can't count that you will get three hits every time, so let's average a total of 2,800 damage each second along with a 4,000/3 poison cancer. An uppercut usually dealing 8,000 damage would only deal 3,000-4,500 due to negative spell damage. This damage is quite measly compared to the 65,000+ damage uppercuts currently, and those builds are pure glass cannons with little survivability and mana.

To sum up, once the +tier glitch is fixed in the future, the benefits of having an incredibly high tier will be not as useful since most dexterity weapons aren't slow. Instead, the reasonably low negative spell damage of this particular cancer will allow for semi-good spell damage if you use spell % gear, combined with this cancer's 1100 poison and exceptional lifesteal for survivability.
