Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Well, there will be mages on the island I'm sure." I say. "I'm not sure if I already told you, but we may see some elves or dwarves. There definitely won't be many, but there will still be some."

 

"You have. Several times, now."

 

"Well, I'm glad you remember." I say as I continue to walk.

 

Yver lets out a purr and curls up gently.

It curls up around Artemis' head.

 

Artemis laughs slightly, "That's a good cat impression." She says.

 

I shrug and look around for anything interesting.

 

"Memory is a fickle thing. I wish I was that good at remembering that, but with other things."

Ihra perks up.
"Cat? Isn't that what Abigail was acting like once while she was drunk?"

 

"I'm rather forgetful as well. The elves remember everything from birth, with their extremely good memories. Never make a promise to an elf, if you ever meet an Asrodonian one." I think for a moment. "We've been walking for a while. Tomorrow we should arrive in Bremaves. Here's some Asrodonian knowledge for you: It's the first and oldest human settlement in recorded history. It's named after King Edward Brem I, of the Brem dynasty. His son later went on to found Ronam, the capital of the Rondall Empire. Or at least, so I was told when a group of scholars tried to educate us tribal "savages" I had to put up with them for weeks while they tried to teach my tribe a history of the continent and how to read and write. After a few weeks, I found it very tempting to prove them right about us all being uneducated savages and bash their leaders head in with a rock. I didn't of course, they left to educate the other tribes." I take a drink of water. "By the way, can you read this language? My tribe spoke the same language as virtually everyone on the continent, but we never used the written language. In truth, I cannot read."

 

"Oh, hey Ihra! Yeah, Abigail was acting like one." Artemis says, smiling.

 

"I can't read this language. I used a spell to understand you, to be honest. I'd need to sneakily cast one on an elf or something when we find one, it sounds."

"Why, though? Is that just what drunk people do?"

Keila seems to have left the forest on her own, though Aria and Rina are still with the group.

 

"Kind of, yeah. Haha." Artemis says, laughing.

"I think that's enough. How about a rematch of the duel?"

 

"Very well. Try not to be so reckless this time."

 

"So it sounds like I'm speaking your language. Interesting. So how exactly does it work?"

 

"What is a cat?"

You notice a cloud of darkness burst out of the forest and form into me.

A dark cloud comes out of the forest and forms into me. I go to Aria and Rina and say, "Do you know where Keila is?"

 

"A magic weave decodes the basics of how a language works, then as long as I have some magical energy, it sounds to me like everything's coming through the weave. It takes me a little bit to process the words, but it works."

"She went home, something was approaching from the other side of the island."

 

"It's a small animal people keep as pets. They purr like you did." Artemis says happily.

 

OOC: If that's not Aura asking, that's going to be awkward.

 

OOC: Kind of hard to tell when there's no speech ownership.

 

OOC: You tend to assume that it's the last person who talked unless there's a quote separation.
