Colors In Guild Chat?

well, I like to think of myself as a highly logical person, so I get that its not allowed, and I wont do it, but I just really want to know why. as @Baezingashinga said, it literally does nothing, and the code SHOULD be pretty simple to fix....

 

The thing is, changing any bit of code when it comes to guilds is likely to create more problems elsewhere. That's how it's been for the past year and a half.

Why it's not allowed is because, as I already said, it's technically against the rules. It's exploitation of a glitch.

 

but how does it mess with the gameplay? in other words, how is it exactly an EXPLOITATION?

its not exactly a resource, to me its just something cool that I can do.

 

All I can tell you is what the mods decided months and months ago. Since it's using a fault in the system to do something you're not supposed to be able to do, I assume they counted it as an exploit.

In other words, it's not exploiting being able to use the colour chat, it's exploiting the cracks in the game's code.

 

but its not guild code, not strictly. It works in /msg and apparently shouts as well.. so the code SHOULD BE FIXABLE IF JUMLA FORMATS HIS CODE CORRECTLY

 

vanilla items don't give any advantage either and yet everyone automatically say they are bannable.

 

While I don't agree with that I understand where they come from, probably because some people might have sold it.

 

having one is not bannable, but selling them is, because its not meant to be a part of the game, and THAT would be exploiting (making money)

 

depends on the item, having a vanilla torch or quartz block is a nono

I don't want to repeat myself over and over, but I guess I have to; it's exploiting a glitch in the system's code, which is against the rules. Why you don't understand this, I don't know.

It's a glitch in the code of all coloured chats, though I don't recall it working in /msg. Perhaps things have changed/gotten worse with Gavel.

Now, as for the code, I'll accept the fact that you know what you're doing when you become a coder for Wynncraft and fix it or you use Wynn's system and fix the problem. I'm sure there's a reason Jumla hasn't fixed it, whether there's conflict between it and other code or he just doesn't see the need to fix it.

Lastly, can you not just accept that it's not allowed? As you've said yourself, it doesn't give you an advantage, so why whine about it being illegal?

its a glitch, but its not an abused glitch. I'm not whining, why does everybody make that mistake? I want to know the LOGICAL reason as to WHY its not allowed. I accept that it is not allowed

Honestly this is getting tiring. You keep asking the same question, and I keep on giving you the same answer. Why? Because it's the only answer.

The only accepted uses of color messages are for administrative functions. In order to not confuse players, and in order to prevent confusion between administrative messages and non-administrative messages, color messages for all non-administrative functions are not allowed. It's that simple.
