"Dragon... hmm... Is it cold on the island to the north?"

Keila overhears this and a small gust of wind puts out the frostfire.
"This place is not yours to destroy. If you must bring ruin to it for it to submit, there will be nothing left for you."

 

"It was designed to be peaceful. Also, new magic is created here."

You hear the voice laughing evilly.
Something moves along the path and seems to circle you.

When she lands, Artemis notices that Terrae forms an orb of frostfire in his hand. Yver immediately hides behind Artemis.
Nothing seems to be wrong, except that Terrae seems to have noticed something.

 

"Like an infinite source? That's neat."

Keila puts out the frostfire, but lightning crackles in her other hand.

 

"This is none of your business. I am prepaeing an act of self defence against a potential assailant." I say
.

"A big mistake." I say, sending a gush of wind all around me, strong enough to knock people off their feet but weak enough so that it does not knock down trees.

 

"I had just realized that. Now, if you have a problem with immortals looking out for each other, I'll go."

 

"I have no problem with that. Help is one of the most vital things needed for a victory." I say, "Although there are some of us who need less help than other people"

 

"Do not put yourself above me. My motive is simple; the more energy we can conserve, the longer we can operate without rest. I take it you need to keep tabs on your own kingdom, no? What good will you be out of sorts?"

A few sparks orbit Terrae, outlining a shield or barrier of sorts.

 

"Correct. My kingdom is a priority of mine. However, this does not mean that I shall protect them from everything. Not only that, but I am also giving them a lesson that I will not always be there to listen to their concerns."

 

"Sounds like you've got a few concerns of your own. What does your kingdom pride itself on, if I may ask?"

 

"I think it does; I hope I'm not crazy, haha." Katie says happily.

"Hey, stop!" Artemis says, running up to Keila, "You'll start a forest fire!"

Artemis grabs Keila's arm, dragging it downward.

 

"Eras was able to make this place do that. At least, we think it is infinite. The Birthlake has been around for so long that we don't know if it will ever run out."

The wind doesn't seem to blow anything away.
Two red eyes appear in the darkness. They stare straight at you.
The mushroom seems to be glowing brighter... or is it just the forest becoming even darker?

 

"Artemis, correct? Do you really think an immortal is that careless with their power? This won't harm the forest, don't worry."

The lightning arcs onto Artemis, but instead of pain, it makes her a bit sleepy.

"Ah, gods... Am I talking to the lake or the forest?"

 

"You are talking to the lake. We often refer to this place as a whole as the Birthlake, though the lake itself is the Birthlake."

 

"Being the most prosperous kingdom in all of The Wastelands. Quite the marvelous feat if you've seen a glimpse of the conditions there."

"Ah, well why didn't you just say so in the beginning?" I say, slightly frustrated as I place the mushroom back where I found it.

 

"Well, it did create a strange forest. Maybe it can talk. It just hasn't talked to me yet."

 

"Have you tried talking to it?" Katie asks.

 

"No. But you'd think something would talk to you when you enter it."

 

"Maybe it's shy?" Katie asks.

 

"I dunno. Did it seem shy when you talked to it?"

 

"Well...no. But I'm a water guardian, so maybe it has more trust in me? I mean, you're a golem, so maybe it doesn't trust you as much and was scared?" Katie asks.
