"Considering they're behind me, neither am I."

 

"Can you not turn around for some reason?"
Crystal asks, a bit skeptically.

 

"I can, I kind of just feel like not moving much. This lake makes me feel as calm as mother did when she was still alive."

 

"Eras created the entire island. The Birthlake then created the forest."

"May. Follow the path with the large trees to where you were. I'll open the path again to help you get to the Birthlake."

 

"Alright then, May. Thank you." I say.

(To Artemis, if she is still there.)
"I'll be off now."

 

@Devourer
Ihra reaches out telepathically to the lake.
"Is everything in this forest sentient?"

 

"Some beings are far less sentient, but most things in the forest are sentient."

 

"Wow...you made this entire forest?" Katie asks.

"Oh, I should come too. Aj is probably wondering where I am." Artemis says.

@Devourer

"It was lovely speaking to you, May." Artemis says happily.

 

"Eras talked about evil plants... Did you make those too, or just the nice ones?"

 

I nod. "I'll be going ahead."

@Devourer

I teleport to the bottom of the tree and walk back to where the path leads me to.

 

"Yes, we made the forest using the magic within us."

"Thank you."
Yver the root, noticing Terrae disappear, gently climbs down from Artemis' head.

"When something is created, there is often an element of evil inside it. Humans are a prime example of that. Many are kind just as many are evil, but nobody purposefully made them evil. The same happened here. The beings created here were kind. But eventually, some of them changed."

As you reach the end of the path of giant trees, the wall of plants at the end moves aside and a path starts forming to your left.

 

"Wow, that's amazing." Katie says, surprised.


Artemis starts gently climbing down the tree.

 

I follow the path, taking a look around me for anything interesting.

 

"It was why we were created in the first place. Eventually, once our magic started turning the forest sentient, we, the water, turned sentient too."

Vines grab Artemis gently and slowly lower her to the ground below.
Yver scuttles down the tree alongside her.

You notice a few glowing mushrooms on the side of the path a while later.

 

I look at the glowing mushrooms and attempt to pull one of them out of the ground.

 

"How long have you been sentient for?" Katie asks.


"Thanks!" Artemis says, letting the vines take her.

 

"Okay. I know what you mean, how the lake makes you feel calm."
Crystal then moves to the left and behind of Ihra, presumably to get a better look at the group.

 

The mushroom is hard to pull out of the ground but you manage eventually.
You suddenly see the path closing in on you. Strangely, the forest seems to become darker too, except for the glow of the mushroom.

"I don't know... a very long time. Hundreds of thousands, possibly millions of years."

Artemis hears the tree hum slightly in response.
After a while, Artemis is dropped gently onto the ground below.
Yver climbs off the tree behind her.

 

"Whoa, I guess Eras must be very old to have created you and have you survive for millions of years." Katie says, opening her eyes to look past the surface of the water again.


"I guess I should go meet up with the others. Do you know where they've gone?" Artemis asks, glancing back up the old tree.

 

"All the Gods in this world are very old. The magic in this lake even made the wind around it sentient. Unlike the lake, however, the wind can move away from the island. The wind learns things around the world. So we have been seeing recent events. Some are good, but others haven't been looking good... especially in the western kingdoms."
The water is still filled with the magic, allowing her to see through it barely.

May doesn't respond, but Yver uses the telepathic link it had with Artemis.
"Wasn't the path you found me on going to the magic thing in the centre of the forest? They might have gone there. May made a path going there. This way!"
Yver walks down the path with the gigantic trees Artemis came from to get to the heart of the forest.
