Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Is it harmful to swim in? My friend Katie just ran towards it." I sign.

 

I stick my finger in and swirl some water around.

 

No, it's perfectly fine. The magic of the Birthlake concentrates on anything which touches it. The magic is not harmful though.

Strangely, the water doesn't ripple at all when you touch it.

 

I touch the bottom of the lake.
Or at least, the part the my foot is resting on.

 

"Ah, good." I sign.


Katie runs up to the birthlake excitedly, before looking around for anyone else.

 

The lake is about your arm's length deep, which is slightly over your knee.

The Birthlake is crystal clear. It seems to be shallow, even in the middle, but still deep enough to swim in.
Magic swirls around Ihra and Thirteen, who are both in the lake.

 

Katie dives in, changing her legs into a fishtail to assist her swimming.

 

I bring my hand out of the water, fast as to cause a ripple, but not fast to disturb much.

 

Ihra still seems a bit startled.
"Wow... the whole forest is alive... This is beautiful."
Ihra looks around in awe, then lets herself fall into the birthlake.

 

Magic concentrates around her. It makes her feel relaxed and calm. The magic feels like the water itself is moving towards her, but the water is still, even as she passes.

There still isn't a ripple. When he brings his hand out of the water, the water immediately leaves his hand. There is no trace of any water on him.

Now she is fully in the water, magic swirls around her, almost stopping her from seeing in front of her...
...except for a strange shape in the water?

 

Katie slows her swimming, eventually just laying on the bottom of the birthlake and looking up to the surface.

 

I take a foot out of the water, to check if the same thing happens.

 

Ihra turns and walks towards the shape, curious.

 

When she stops moving, magic quickly envelopes her, making it harder to see her surroundings.
As the water itself is crystal clear, she can see the sky above through the magic.

Again, his foot doesn't carry the water with it and no ripple is created.

 

"What is this place?" Katie asks, watching the bubbles rise to the surface generated by her question.

 

"This is the Birthlake, the lake in the centre of this forest."
The voice comes from all around her.
The bubbles move upwards surprisingly quickly.

 

I step farther in the water to relax.

The shape turns out to be a humanoid figure, but the figure seems to be made out of something that swirls a rainbow of colors.
It continues to look at Ihra skeptically, before backing up a bit.

 

"What happens if I drink it?" Katie asks.

 

Ihra walks after it, curious.
"Hello?"

 

The forest is now quiet and peaceful. It seems as if nothing unusual could happen here.

"You would be drinking me. And the same as being in the water itself, though the water would leave your body after you leave the lake."
