Stop With The Lag!

When I joined this server, I spawned into the lobby which ran smoothly. But then, when I went into the game, my framerate went from about 100 down to 2. I don't know why the hell this happened. I was on a "0% lag" server. 0% lag? More like 100%. I had OptiFine set to increase performance and everything. I knew this wasn't because of the resource pack because I played Warlords on Hypixel (a game with a resource pack with more complicated 3D models than this game) which ran completely well. The framerate went up when I stopped moving or went to the pause menu, but other than that it was really laggy. Now I don't care what kind of joke you're trying to pull on me, but it has to stop! My computer is pretty good, yet no matter what I do, this server runs horribly. Just please, I'm begging you, PLEASE, PLEASE just fix this for the love of God! Just do it for the children! Do it for all of your fans that will no longer be your fans if you don't fix this! Oh yeah, and if you staff don't fix this in 96 hours, You'll get a 4th of July present: I'll start to tell people about how bad your service is.

It wasn't my connection. I don't live in freaking Romania or Iraq. If it was, I would've said it was the connection. This is just system lag.

 

If my knowledge of how lag is checks out, and it should, that lag meter in the lobby is how much lag there is with the server. If your framerate sincerely went down to two, or any low number, it's a problem with how your computer is processing the data it is receiving, not with the internet, like the meter in the lobby says. You'll need an upgrade if you want to play the game smoothly.

If it's that everything else moves slowly and you're fine with the animations and everything, that's due to an issue with a connection to the server, which either means your internet connection has issues, or Wynncraft is currently having issues with its connection, which is unlikely, as shown with the lag meter.

 

The developers would have never consider reducing lag until this post!

But in all seriousness, it is not as simple as just reducing lag. That costs money and time, two things which Wynn doesn't get enough of

Yes it is. They might have something that makes the game lag a lot, like LOTS OF CHUNK UPDATES, AHEM! All they have to do is just remove that. But if they're not willing to do something as simple as that (or just too dumb), then that's just pathetic.

It was assumed that you were referring to your connection when you mentioned the lag meter.

On the topic of increasing your framerate, as FlubbyB mentioned, this is not something that the Content Team of Wynncraft can just do. It requires many optimizations to the server which take time to spot and change, time that the Content Team needs to spend on making new content for the majority of the players in the community that can run the game alright.

The slowness of the game likely is not caused by the 3D models, but rather, the complexity of the plugins. That would explain why Hypixel is so much faster, as it's made of minigames, rather than this one large game.

If you do really want to play Wynncraft, and you have the ability to do so, try saving up for a more powerful computer.

 

Actually, I believe chunk updates are client-controlled, and then relayed to the server for information. Meaning that you can decrease this number by decreasing your render distance, thus increasing framerate.

The likely reason for the lag is their numerous plugin-controlled systems, including but not limited to:

• Damage indicators
• Randomized damage
• Attack Speed modifier
• Spells with gameplay and particle effects
• Custom music
• Custom attacks (even melee classes use custom attacks; they're just less noticeable)

 

Well, I don't know. Warlords has all of those and runs smoothly. I don't see why this would be different though.

 

Good idea. You don't seem to be understanding what I'm trying to tell you.

Look, people have asked for lag to be reduced many times before, and the Content Team tries to do that. It's just not as easy as you think it is. If you can't play the game, don't play it. I understand that not everyone can run this server, but not everyone has to run this server.

Some people have really, really slow computers and can't even play Survival well.

Should they complain to Mojang? No. It's just how it is.

It happens to me a lot to, I think it's because your computer is loading up the texture pack. There really isn't much to do about that. Because warlords loads the texture pack before you enter the game, the FPS doesn't drop there. Playing a few minutes should end the lag. If that isn't it, then I have no clue. Also, I should mention that Hypixel is the biggest server in the game, they have a much larger staff so it isn't difficult for them to fix lag issues. In addition to that, they have smaller maps, so they don't need to load as much at once.

But do you think that I can do anything about that with what little power I have over the server? How would that be helpful? How could I possibly fix that?

 

Well, try not to leave the game in the middle of a forest unless you want to die. The initial lag spike from wynn sucks, but after about 10-20 seconds it should go away. If you continue having low frames, then what you do depends on how badly it lags. If it's like 8 FPS then lower your render distance and max framerate, that should help. If it's like 0-3 FPS then it might be that your computer is having problems with loading the texture pack, in which case you might be out of luck, unless you want to play without the texture pack.

 

Chunk updates are on your end. I'm sorry, but this is not the server's fault.

And it's not simply to reroute packets to send themselves to back to the server, then to the proper player, assuming the server uses even basic packets. Chunk updates happen because there are a buttload of people playing, and due to the complex nature of this server being an MMO, a player will be affected by the server's issues as well. If the lag is spiking randomly, that is entity lag on your end, due to your computer being unable to load all the things it sees at it's former framerate/resolution and breaks it down. It's an ingenious method of keeping your computer's processor alive.

Now, the other reason you could be lagging may be due to chunk updates, but those are, as stated above, client controlled in 9/10 minecraft server. Now, I'm not 'making fun of your computer'. I am merely stating facts that may be the reason you are having these issues with framerate.

As stated above, you may be having issues with the resourcepack. The game needs to render the initial texture of everything, and that may be a bit intensive, and whenever you encounter a new block, the game may need to load it for the first time. A simple fix to this is making a copy of the serve resource pack, then putting the copy in your resourcepack folded in the Minecraft client. Set it as your resourcepack before you join the game, and you'll load things far faster, and it may even help your framerate. Of course, you could also turn off particles or I could advise you on more streamlining should neither of these work.

 

Maybe if you close programs and uninstall un-wanted software on you're computer I may run at a better frame rate, you could also install optifine, even though it may not help too much. That's all I can recommend that isn't "insulting your computer". I will also mention that I don't think your "black mail" of the server is a viable threat to the developers.

 

Maybe people would help you if you didn't act like an asshole and try to blackmail us.

 

Btw Romania has a great connection to Wynncraft.

Wynncraft has a great system where as soon you leave the chunk it unloads it. So less chunk updates. (Jk that's vanilla)

And why would wynncraft be worried about you going around telling your friends about the server, all they'll do is check it out for themselves or ignore you completely.

 

Something says you are using 512x512 LB Photo Realism.

And before you say "I ran the lobby just fine!" Keep in mind that the world itself is far laggier than the lobby. So, take off all client resource packs.

 

That's only if you have Vsync on. If you turn it off then it should go as high as it wants.

Also, this is a pretty ridiculous complaint. Don't think that we don't give a damn about lag, because we do. We get these kinds of threads almost everyday and the developers do everything they can to make sure the server runs as smoothly as possible. I'd say try and figure out any other possible problems. Maybe it's your computer, internet, luck; I don't know, but you can't just assume it's the server's fault.

My computer is literally less than half of 2000 dollars and I can achieve over 350+ fps ingame. Price =/= performance. (It's a prebuilt too.)

Also, it could be because of your laptop. Heating issues? Outdated graphics card? Overall potato?
