Hard Reset.

So today, I wanted to ask everyone their thoughts on Wynncraft having a 'Hard Reset.'

Now, this is a completely hypothetical thing, and in no way a suggestion.

A hard reset would simply be as follows:
Everyone's class would be deleted, every bank would be cleared, every guild territory would be unclaimed and every guild would lose all their emeralds. Essentially fully restarting the game.

Now, before you immediately reply saying something like "That's dumb ur stupid peeple werked reely hard 2 get mythics and level up too 101. Plus theid loose collecters items!!!" Please take some time to consider what good could come of it.


Economy:
A hard reset, having cleared all items from the community, would reset the economy too. Now, I know this is a bad thing too, but I'm going to talk about the good side. Currently, there are people out there with stacks of LE. This has caused an inflation in the economy, and makes it a lot harder for new players to buy useful items off the player market. If everyone no longer had emeralds, however, it would reset the economy and increase the value of an LE (You have to work for that now.)

Guilds:
While a hard reset wouldn't reset the level of guilds or delete them (Guilds are a massive part of the community, not so much the game.), having their emeralds reset would allow a slightly more balanced guild territory claiming. Since everyone would be level 1 again, larger guilds would only have the advantage of player masses. While guilds are, and always will be, broken, this might allow some smaller guilds to start claiming before larger ones take over.

Cheaters:
I feel like I only need to say one word for you to understand what I mean here. Cactus. While the mods on Wynncraft are outstanding at banning hackers faster than they can say 'My little brother did it.', that doesn't mean there aren't players cheating by the rules. Cactus builds, for those that do not know, are builds that give the player 100% Thorns and Reflection, and very high life steal. Since there is currently a bug with Thorns / Reflection and Life Steal, causing Life Steal to activate every time thorns does, players can take advantage of this both in PvE to 'AFK Grind' and PvP to become Super Sonic. Now, while I'm not saying (before the next update / patch) having a hard reset would remove Cactus builds, it would stop all the players that cheated the system to unfairly gain experience. Players who can simply stand in a high spawnrate area with a cactus build, grinding XP off the mobs that spawn there by abusing the glitch do not deserve that XP, as they have done no work for it. By having a Hard Reset, it would clear the cheated XP from the playerbase, making the game a little fairer.

you need to buy the items to make the build, friend.

I'm against AFK farming, though. It's not necessarily cheating, but it isn't exactly "legitimate?" I guess you could say that.

 

I understand they need to buy the items. I really meant they haven't done work for the XP (as opposed to people fighting mobs / doing dungeons).

Also, this is why I called Cactus 'Cheating by the rules.'

I wouldn't mind a hard reset to be honest, but, besides very loyal players, loads of people would quit, and, while it may improve the quality of the game itself, it would do lots of damage to the lifespan of the game.

If a hard reset is not possible, they could always rollback the AFK Grinders who got to level 100/101 (or in extreme cases, they could delete a class that AFK grinded if the admins really wanted too), hell, I made a suggestion along with like a 4-paragraph long rant on Cactus and the idiots that whine when broken builds get nerfed, but thanks to the "reliable" draft-saving feature, that's all gone down the drain.

Well, you could probably emulate a hard reset by starting a new class and not taking anything out of your bank (that you have stored previously). See how you feel about it, and then ask yourself if a hard reset would be so bad.

except the guild thing but nobody gives a fck about glitched guilds

And rip the level 101 too.

 

this is not a pvp game
the fact that vetrans have high lvl classes and op gear doesnt affect the new players that join the game in any way , infact it even helps them since vetrans do help low lvls
a reset would cause way more problems than it would solve

tbh i dont mind a hard rest, with what i saw on wynncraft while i played for almost 3 years; duping, scams, corruption from all sources, a hard rest will sound good for me.

players that got to lvl 101 already know how easy it is to reach lvl 80 without even trying.

the items and the money on the other hand is a bit hard to let them go to the trash, but its part of it (of the duping and ect.).

I say yes, and im sure that a lot of people will agree with me.

 

So it's basically gonna be like old wynn where 1 le equals 32 le today?

I don't complitely disagree because it would remove all the previous cheater's achiecements, but I dislike the idea of reseting everyone. Some people have really worked their way up there, and wouldn't have the courage to get up there again. It really would be unfair if you reset 500 hours of a persons playtime. Translate that to days, and you will see how much that is.

In addition this would also reset the gold coins people have bought for wynn. Unless there is a way to retrieve the exact amount of gold coins a person bought based on logs, this will be called stealing.

This sure is a drastic solution, but it has a chance to succeed. It will maybe give the 'old taste' of wynn back. The reason may be that new players don't get overwhelmed by people using stacks upon stacks of le, high level armor etc. However this will not last for ever. The process will be futile until a time where the economy looks as it does today.

(Grian could maybe advertise the wynncract reset on youtube for a biiig playerbase)

Me personally don't want this to happen because of my guild and everything I've gone through. It would kinda hurt my pride.

also forgot to say that most of the guilds have "bugs" with the xp and money (abusing glitches for xp and emeralds as well).
it will prob also solve so many issues with the guild community.

 

I'd be fine with a hard reset. It would do lots of good in terms of duping/economy, and it really wouldn't affect very many people level wise.

I like the idea...
But people have been working so hard and put so many hours in this server to reach a goal, some of them have reached it, others havent.
It would be rude to just delete everyones hard worked for, many hours put into goals, items, levels, Best stratiformis in game,...

I would however see this as a plan B.
When the economy breaks, a giant duping glitch is found and a lot of mythics get duped, a hard reset would not be a bad idea
