Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"That certainly sounds like a forest heart." Artemis says happily.

 

"Heavens, they might be dragging Artemis into this as well." I comment, propelling myself forward with another whirlwind.

 

"Hey!" Artemis shouts, waving.

 

"We have those here too, but these are just as common."

 

"They're kind of inconvenient for claws, but I can understand the utility."
Pause.
"In retrospect, did you think of buying a map?"

 

I turn around and wave back before continuing forwards.

 

Nice to meet you, Por. So, what are you, exactly, other than the obvious.

 

"She eats metal. Then when he scales start rusting, she makes a layer of metal behind it."

A while later, you come to a large clearing. In the centre is a gigantic tree which is so tall you can barely see the top branches.

Umm... just a floating mushroom? I'm one of many fungi in the forest.

 

"A tree?" I ask to myself.

I walk closer to examine it.

 

Artemis walks up to the tree and places her hands on it, trying to sense if any stong beings reside within the tree that may be a forest heart.

 

Nothing seems to be different from any other tree, apart from size of its branches, trunk and leaves.
The light seems to be coming from the top of the tree.

The tree seems to have the same magic passing through it. However, it seems to be powerful and also very old. Both the light and the essence of the being seem to be coming from the top of the tree.
A few vines reach down from above wrap themselves around Artemis gently but firmly.

 

Artemis lets the vines take her, sighing and trying to become as relaxed as possible.

 

The vines lift her off the ground and into the air, going towards the source of the light near the top of the tree.
The root crawls up the trunk of the tree, though it isn't as fast as the vines and is soon left behind.
When Artemis reaches the top, the vines gently put her down on a platform of wood where several large branches split off in different directions.
A strange stump of wood is in the centre of the platform. It glows green, which seems to be strangely fainter now that you are closer to it.

 

Artemis walks up to the stump of wood and puts her hands on it, trying to communicate with the being she sensed before, "Hello?" She asks telepathically.

 

The stump starts glowing brightly next to Artemis. The light seems to take a form slightly.
A wooden hand reaches out of the stump next to Artemis.

 

Artemis gently takes the hand.

 

A wooden body climbs out of the stump.
They are glowing with a faint green aura.
A female voice says, telepathically, "Hello!"

 

"Hello, I'm Artemis, a forest guardian. I bring no harm or evil intentions. Are you the heart of this forest?" Artemis asks.

 

"Yes, I am the heart of the forest. It's nice to see a forest guardian."

 

Artemis bows.

"Might I ask, why have you given sentience to the plants of the forest? Or was that not your doing?" Artemis asks.
