Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"So it's like me, but a rock. Well, I know how it works, then."

 

"Well, do you do this to others?" Stephanie asks, holding her invisible tome out. A strange screen of sorts shows, and a person seems to be standing near to a crystal similar to the one in the staff. The crystal releases a burst of magic, and the person starts rapidly changing; some parts to stone, others to wood, and others to eyeballs and organs.

 

"The only thing stopping me from doing that is that it's easier to keep fighting when you don't have piles of crap in your way."

 

"Hmm, I guess it really is you in crystal form." Stephanie says. The tome re-appears, however the eye is red. Stephanie de-summons the tome and smiles.

 

"So, can I discharge the energy just by using it? Maybe absorb it into myself?"

 

"You could always use it to double your power, or make a precise and multiplying outlet for your magic." Stephanie says.

 

"This sounds useful. I only worry about one thing; can you gauge how many charges it can hold?"

 

"Uhm, sure, if you want to." She holds out a sleeve

 

The mage runs his hand down the sleeve nervously.
"No wonder they all wear those. I guess I know where most of my men's wages are going next time we can get there."

 

"I got us backpacks." I say, holding them up. "I just came to see if you were awake. I'm going to get some food for the journey, wherever we go. Any preferences, or should I just get dried meat and foods that last long?"

 

OOC: Forgot to mention, Terrae just teleported to where he was before we checked out the fireworks.

"Ah, I see. Does it bite?"

 

"Beggars can't be choosers. I ate a bit of the bushes I hid in, but anything's fine."

 

"Hmm, well how much power is in a 'Charge'?" Stephanie asks, re-summoning her tome.

 

"A charge is the limit of magical power the average human body can safely contain. It's quite a bit of power, and I know your standard mage crystals generally can only hold one. I hold up to fifteen before I start panicking, and Ihra's holding on to about sixty right now."

 

"Hmm...about twenty five for the crystal that size and shape." Stephanie says, reading through her tome.

 

"Any penalties if I try to use energy the crystal doesn't have? I'd like to make sure it's empty so I can keep count."

 

"You're thinking of shrinking Rineth?"

"Yes, I'll see if I can find it again."
Arnold goes to where he thinks the last page he read was.

"Okay, let's go in!"
Daras walks towards the forest. He seemingly walks straight into a few thick branches.
They move to the side as he passes.
"Several rules about the trees. First, don't wander off the path, or you might run into plants we don't want to go near... though maybe Ihra, Artemis and Myria would be fine. Second, stay close to me, or the path will just close on you. Finally, don't be worried if a plant moves towards you... unless it drags you into the forest, in which case it might be dangerous."

"Of course not! Frosty here wouldn't bite anyone!"
She climbs off Frosty and it immediately nuzzles her gently.

 

"And what species is Frosty?"

 

"Frosty is a Shadecorn."

 

"Okay." I say. I leave and enter the shop from earlier. "What aisle can I get enough non-perishable food? I need enough to fill up my backpacks."
