"We can talk later.' I say. "But we should probably get the surgery done soon."

Opal heads for the door, and the doctor's holding an elevator open.

 

"Hail, Miss Anna." I say.

 

"If you can't find a name you like but find something you like, I tell you what it is in Dark Script."

"Yes, though part of it is that the lake is the only source of salt free water on the island. Eras created this island, which included the Birthlake and its magic. When Hythania first arrived, she had a few plants with her. The magic created more using the first ones it found, creating the forest around the Birthlake."

Idala laughs, maybe a bit too much.

"Oh, hello God of Destruction."

 

"Uh, are you ok?" I ask, concerned.

"Hey Aj, could you do me a favour?" Artemis asks.

"What?" I respond.

"Carry me!" Artemis says, smiling at me.

"Ugh, fine." I say, kneeling down. Artemis climbs onto my shoulders, and I start carrying her.

 

"Alright, thanks."

OOC: Elevator? What time period is this in, exactly?
I enter the elevator.

 

OOC: Tech depends on the place. The major differences are location and no gunpowder.
There are mechanical teleporters in some places.

Seems a button's already pushed.
"It'll be quick."

 

OOC: The continent I made up isn't very technologically advanced. All three of the major nations have basic technologies, but other than that, they're just like the others. I'm okay with the continent having elevators. I'd just prefer it to not be too advanced.
I wait for the elevator to reach the proper floor.

 

OOC: That wasn't defined, so I'll keep it basic.

When it does, Opal is put on a medical bed and the doctor starts giving him anesthetics.

"I'll need you to watch the elevator and if the other guard comes, tell him I'm in the middle of a late-night operation."

 

"Got it" I say, nodding. I move to the elevator.

 

A magazine is tossed at you.

The elevator is silent and the floor counter doesn't move.

You can hear the doctor moving equipment around.
"I need about two hours clear. The cut is deep and it hit a major vessel."

 

OOC: My character can't read; none of the desert tribes don't have a written language. He understands a few words, but most are alien to him.
"Let me know if you need help. From where I come from, we used herbs, tribal remedies, and a dash of magic. This is all new to me." I say as I open the magazine.

 

"Actually, go to the third floor. If you find any herbs that help the body heal itself, bring some down."

 

I check to see what floor I'm on now, then enter the elevator. I press the 3rd floor button and wait.

 

I grin and chuckle a bit.
"You people are amazing."

 

"What? Artemis wanted to be carried, so I'm carrying her." I say, confused.

Artemis laughs, enjoying being carried on my shoulders.

 

"It's just that it's nice to see people that can be like this most of the time."
I smile.

 

"What do you mean? Have you been around depressed people?" I ask.

 

"You don't get much time around people like you when you spend half your life around working people and dead corpses. So for me, it always brightens my day to see someone enjoying themselves. Unless, well, they're killing people."
