Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I continue to watch, weary of what he's going to do next.

 

You can feel the wind from his wing angle slowing him down.
It's a pretty strong gust, even up there. It knocks Ragnyon over, to her frustration.

 

"With big wings come big gusts of wind..."
I say to myself before quickly trying to land, and making sure Ragnyon doesn't blow away by digging my feet far into the sand behind her.
Or at least, I try. It's kinda hard with the wind.

 

She smiles at you, holding as tight as she can to her staff, jammed deep in the sand.


Rineth's close to landing, but the gusts get a bit stronger.

 

I continue to stand ground behind Ragnyon in case something were to happen.

 

Well, there's still a wave, but Ragnyon blocks you from it.

"Sorry, forgot about the wind and stuff."

 

I dig my feet out of the sand.

"No problem. We're all fine. Ish."

 

"Will she be ok?" Katie asks, worried.

 

"Ish? What else happened?"

"Likely. Just nerves. She overexerts herself as it is... I just wish she'd let us help."

 

"Other than some of us thinking we might get blown all the way off the island? Nothing. I'm saying that it was mainly just psychological things."

 

Katie waits patiently, smiling.

 

"Oh... Well, I suppose I have to redeem myself a bit again."

Eventually a glimmer of light falls down towards the shrine.
"Mother, we have another guest."
"Can they wait?"
"You've hid for a week. They cannot wait much longer."


A woman in a flowing gown forms from the light.
"I suppose introductions are in order. I hope you can forgive the wait... I am Keila, the Goddess of Storms. Might I ask your name?"
She smiles gently.

 

"You don't have to. At least, to me you don't. Not sure about the others. But it was an accident, and you're nice enough as it is."

 

"I'm Katie, uhm, the water guardian," Katie says, smiling, getting up and offering a handshake, "It's nice to meet you, Keila."

 

"Thanks. For a robot, you have manners."
"I don't count?"
"That's not what I meant, Iruk."

"Nice to meet you too, Katie. I'm sorry to have kept you waiting... It's just that more and more threats to my people are popping up, and it's had me awake for months on end."

 

"What kind of threats?" Katie asks, curious.

 

"Armed people, armed ships, storm-resistant to boot... I fear my people will die or become slaves soon. I... I hate the thought..."
A tear rolls down her face.

 

"A robot made to be more logical, sensible, and overall better than the average human, and yet made to have all the same good qualities. Those scientists were shooting for a certain galaxy and they hit another. But thanks."
I smile, then turn to Iruk.
"Iruk, you have good in you too, you know. It just took a little time."

 

Katie quickly hugs Keila, attempting to comfort her.

"I'm sure you can deal with them! Aria says you're super powerful!" Katie says happily.

 

"I know. I'm still trying to learn a new skill."
"You'll be fine, you'll see."

"I am, but... I'm getting tired. I maintain the storm barrier, and control any unnatural disasters. I haven't had much time to rest."
