So I Wanted To Know How Fast Horses Go

I found the speed of my black horse in blocks per second (20)
since a block is a meter, i then multiplied it by 3600 to get meters per hour
72,000 meters per hour, or 72 kph
for everyone except America and 2 other countries, this means:
10/10 Brown Horse - 36 kph
20/20 Black Horse - 72 kph
30/30 Chestnut Horse - 108 kph
40/40 White Horse - 144 kph

For our Americans (and those 2 other countries), the mph is
10/10 Brown Horse ~ 22 mph
20/20 Black Horse ~ 44 mph
30/30 Chestnut Horse ~ 67 mph
40/40 White Horse ~ 89 mph

I don't think even expert breeding and large amounts of use can make a horse go nearly 90 miles per hour.

After seeing the posts and running another test in minecraft, yes the values are twice as high as they should be, so cut them in 2

 

Mm i did the same thing few months ago and i also found 20 blocks/s but for my white horse… not black
And guess what, 70.76 km/h is the actual horse speed record ;)

If a 40/40 white horse existed in real life, the thing would be faster than a cheetah (which runs at about 70 mph)... and that's the fastest land animal on Earth.

EDIT: And I remember seeing a post by Salted a while ago saying that horses' speeds increased exponentially with level, in this model they increase linearly.

wait a second a brown horse would go 8 kph (4 mph) like that, and a black would break the sound barrier
I don't think the average player can outrun a brown horse, or that black horses can make sonic booms.

exponential doesnt necessarily have to be something like this: 1 * 18 ^ level, it could be shallow like 5 * 1.05^level

 

And then you realize that if these calculations are accurate then Broettinger is going 100+ mph. Just think about this for a second.
