I have attempted to collect all the information on Quest Items as they relate to Inventory space and created a guide to them. This is intended to be used by players new and old to help manage their Inventory space, as such I avoid spoilers as much as possible. The guide is for people who are not using /fixquests to solve their problems. If you are willing to rely upon it there is no point in reading further.
First lets define a few terms so we can be as precise as the situation warrants.
When you are performing a quest, you will often collect various items that you need to progress to the next step of the quest. We will call these Step items. They come in two types. The first are easily acquired common items of the Junk, Misc., and bought-from-a-Merchant type. The second are unique items most often given to you by a Quest NPC. The unique items are always tagged as Quest Items. The main reason is so that you don't become permanently stuck if you lose it. NPCs don't give second copies and /kill doesn't reset NPC interactions so unique items need to be all but impossible to lose. Step items are meant to leave your Inventory as you move through or conclude the quest. As such they are not a long term issue. The exception is the Slime Scooper which several staff members have said in the forums is retained by a glitch.
At the conclusion of the quest you may receive/ retain three types of items; Souvenirs, Rewards, and Passports.
A Souvenir is tagged as a Quest Item and is used as a Step Item in a later quest. The example that throws its shadow over all is the many Souvenirs required for Temple of Legends.
A Reward is just that. It is either a voucher you take and cash in someplace else for emeralds or equipment, or a specific piece of equipment that is moderately useful to any class or build. They are different in style than a simple drop item, but since they may be used or discarded at your choosing they are not a long term issue.
Passports are items, always helmets for some reason, that allow access to a type of geographical area, or to the territory of a group. The Breathing Helmet is an early example. Passports continue to be needed to bypass the command block that teleports you back when you cross a threshold without it. When a Passport is used, completion of a quest does not confer immunity to this requirement. This is different from the quests where completion does allow access after quest completion. Both techniques have been used from the beginning. Passports fit in a grey area, some are Quest Items, some are not though all are necessary for full map access. The question becomes if the map area in question is worth retaining the helmet. A full discussion of Passports follows my rudimentary chart.

The effects of Souvenirs and Passports on Inventory. Following is a chart of quests that provide Souvenirs or Passports. Quests that provide Vouchers are not relevant as they may be disposed of immediately and cause no long term difficulties.

Key: There is a bar across the top showing levels (sorta to scale).

Each entry lists the earliest level it can be performed, followed by the name of the quest, followed by the name of the Quest Item, followed by the Clutter Index rating it has, followed by the specific level range between acquiring and discarding.
The Clutter Index is my name for how many spaces/levels an item inhabits your Inventory. Passports with confirmed reuse are noted by their confirmed CI followed by a + to denote ongoing use of Inventory space.

On the line below each entry is my visual representation of the Clutter Index. Dashes start at the earliest level you can do a quest that sticks a Quest Item in your Inventory, it stops at the earliest level you can get rid of it. The WynnExcavation Crystals are ___ underlined instead to make it easier to separate out information.
Passports have () parenthesis at the level they are confirmed as being needed again. ?--? is my notation for Passports that may or may not be intended for long term retention.

Edit: x is a placeholder because I don't know much about formatting documents.

Discussion: Note that the terms used and conclusions reached are my own. I have no official standing or special knowledge. It is just observation and logic.
As the chart shows, the worst period is 46/49 all the way to 68, with 62 to 68 the absolute nadir. At level 49 you have thirteen items, it goes up to fourteen at 55, to sixteen at 62, with a possible seventeen at 64.
At 68 you clear out six items, at 70 a further three. Post WynnExcavation at 70 you have nine items, because you aren't sure you need the Purified Helmet of Legends or not. Three of those items are clear cut Souvenirs you will soon use, you get two more for brief stretches later on. The rest are Passports, which will soon become Gavel's answer to Wynn's Souvenirs in your Inventory woes.

The first half of a Wynn experience revolves around the pre- Gavel quests. The Quest Items are almost all Souvenirs, and you hold them for a long time. It is easy to see what they were going for. The Temple of Legends quest was an end game cap to the experience. The Souvenirs required you to go to every corner of the existing map. It tied in with Bob by requiring a Bob item, defeating Bob's enemy, and spending Bob's Reward in the Temple. Combined with the WynnExcavation storyline, it exposed the player to the entirety of what Wynn was. It also amounts to a combined Clutter Index of 195! This is largely because all six items are held from 45 to 68. For reference, WynnExcavation with three items held has a combined score of 74.
There are no easy answers. Looking at the chart, some relief can be had by holding off on the quests in the 60s, but that is the level range when grinding starts to become an issue. Holding off on the whole of WynnExcavation till after 68 would save three spaces but the Excavation storyline is major lore designed to go along with the intended levels. Also they are really spread out over the map.
Skipping Cluck Cluck till Reincarnation at 74 is a no-brainer, it otherwise has a high CI of 51, and you will be sailing anyway.
The only real answer is to skip some of the six Temple of Legend tie ins until 68. With a horse they can be done quickly, and though they have some tie ins with other quests and lore they can be appreciated in reverse order at 68. The six tie ins are:
    1. Mushroom Man; fun but skippable, it has a sequel of sorts but could be appreciated in either order.
    2. Maltic's Well; no real lore, a quest to make sure you saw that corner of the map.
    3. Grave Digger; it does allow access to an area on completion, which would be pointless at a much higher level. The area can be skipped with alternate areas standing in for grinding.
    4. The Angry Village; lore that can be gleaned elsewhere. No harm in doing later.
    5. The Wrath of the Mummy; has a Reward that is useful for spell users but could be delayed at least until the more difficult Boss battles start.
    6. Bob's Lost Soul; has a nice enough chest plate and grinding spot access, it may be more useful at the suggested level than the Inventory space saved.
Of them all there isn't one you could perform at the time and simply not take the last step to complete it till 68. All would leave Step items equal to or greater than the number of Souvenirs in your Inventory. I would argue that you could skip the first four or five (if not a spell caster) without your role playing experience being changed all that much.

The post level 70 Gavel situation depends upon how cautious you are and how ambiguous you find the many Passports you begin to accumulate. They eventually add up to around a dozen.
The Breathing Helmet and Climbing Helmet have been demonstrated as long term items you are expected to keep.
The Creeper Mask would seem to have exhausted its usefulness. It is a reused Passport, though the area is very small, and any return to Creepers as a subject will require it. Keep.
The Factory Helmet is really a Souvenir item. It is little more than a Step providing access to a particular dungeon area(s). It barely qualifies as a Passport, but the storyline is certainly ongoing. Like the Creeper Mask it is either obviously exhausted or absolutely necessary, depending on if someone creates a new related quest. Keep?
Starting with the Upgraded Orc Mask it gets really messy. The Mask provides access to a surface area rather than only a cave/dungeon area. It is however not a Quest Item. Nor is it any good as a Reward. So why do they specifically "upgrade" and give it to you? Discard unless you are an access fetishist.
The Purified Helmet of Legends is only a Boss access Step item. Without it you can't help others fight CoW though, so retaining it is a matter of personal preference. I think.
Clearsight Spectacles are needed for access to an entire Realm. There may or may not be more quests in the Realm of Light. It is certain you need to retain these until after the release of the Boss quest. Also, you will at least always require this to access that Boss fight.
Sound Proof Earmuffs are really a Boss access Step item. Tellingly they are not a Quest Item. Discard unless you are an access fetishist.
The Helmet of Shimmering Light will probably be an Boss access item, and discardable afterward. Or it will be the most awesome Upgraded Reward ever, or it will be a true Passport. Keep it for now. I for one hope it will be discardable after completing the quest, but I doubt it. Meaning Two helmets for one Boss rematch.
The Gert Mask should perhaps include the Gerten Ritual Mask as a companion. I for one assumed the Ritual Mask would function as a Passport to the Gert Area since its ID's are nonexistent. Nope, it is not. It is apparently a super lame Reward. The Gert Mask remains the only Passport to GertLand. Discard Ritual Mask, keep Gert Mask as it is a reused Quest Item and Passport to a surface area.
Restored Ancient Helmet is a decent Reward item depending on IDs. It is technically a Step access to one of the larger quest dungeon areas. It is not a Quest Item. Wear it if it fits your build, discard if you are not an access fetishist.

The Gert Mask and Factory Helmet are the real annoying examples. They are both self evidently Quest Items so you don't lose them because they are needed for Part two quests. It is unclear if they stay with you because the staff are contemplating Part 3, or hedging their bets at our (Inventories) expense, or if removing Helmets is in some way technically difficult but they use the mechanism anyway.

In summary up to levels 68/70 you are expected to use an swiftly increasing number of Inventory spots for Souvenirs. The most effective plan that is least disruptive to your in game sense of wonder is to skip the six Temple of Legend precursors, as they contain relatively little time sensitive lore. Except for Bob they have no direct relation to the Temple itself as prequels. Ok, Angry Village, but you get the exact same idea from the orchard outside Detlas.
After 70 Passports begin to accumulate at a similar rate, which is compounded by the inherent ambiguity of whether they are Souvenirs/Rewards/Passports/We-Didn't-Consider-You-Had-Been-Conditioned-Not-To-Discard-The-Earmuffs. You have far less wiggle room as they simply don't go away. You cannot do without Breathing, Climbing, Spectacles, Shimmering Light. Unless there is official clarification, you are meant to keep Creeper, Factory, Gert, and Legends. Legends is needed to refight CoW, but is otherwise pretty obviously useless. I think.
Although post 70 has only eight required space eaters, the number is trending upward. Keep in mind it is only three spaces, but through level 100, Breathing, Climbing and Creeper have a combined CI of 244.
    So don't complain about ToL's mere 195...
Lastly Wynncraft is great and free. This post is meant to help players not get frustrated about book keeping, and help them enjoy the game. It is not meant to be a complaint.

Edit: I just noticed I didn't indent the paragraphs properly, and don't know how. It looks right in the edit field... Anybody Help?

I have used /fixquests several times with no problems. It drops more crap into your inventory than what you needed, but it worked. Some people have said on the forums that it did not work for them, and they refuse to use it. Thus the guide. Also I am trying to take an RPG approach where Frodo keeping The One Ring in a zip file till he needed it sorta ruined the book.
