Invisible Blocks?

Why is there invisible blocks above the world in certain areas? What is their purpose?

 

To block out the haters!

 

To prevent you from leaving the map.

 

It's very easy to get past them and I don't think that's the reason since they don't cover the whole map and are only in certain areas.

 

I mean like going past the mountains on the very edge of the world and into the flatlands, they block the edges of the map off.

 

we use barrier blocks. its mostly to prevent people from doing things like camping bosses or going in the wrong direction during a quest, and of course making sure no players escape the map

 

Why is it above the pigman mountain place ? :P

 

Most of the mountain places you dont see are like little ponds and useless things I dont think people without their movement spell can get out of (been a while since I was there). Plus, you could find holes and walk along the ravines to troms without the passage or outside the map.

 

Do you need to complete a quest to enter Troms?

 

No, but there is a quest in troms that opens a path from troms to ragni, being able to go over the mountains would skip that quest and let level 11s get to Troms.

 

To use the Troms passage, yes. Its a level 57 quest. But to enter the city from the entrance, no .

 

It may be "very easy to get past them", but don't do it. If you go outside the map, or bypass the barriers, even if there are holes in them, it's a banable offense. I wouldn't do that. Mods and admin take a very dim view of it. On the other hand, if you find one, and post about it so that it can be fixed, no one's ever gotten in trouble for that that I've ever seen, and it wouldn't make any sense to get in trouble for it, either.

 

I don't know why its so bad to go outside the map could you explain?

 

If you go outside the map, you are no longer on the server in any game area. In a sense, it's trespassing.
If you go outside the map, once in a while, builders or admins have accidentally dropped items that were not meant for use in-game. Players have picked up those items and gotten into big trouble for having illegal items in the game.
If you go outside the map, it has been discussed, that sometimes there are areas that have been used for testing purposes, and you would have access/knowledge to privileged information.

That's just off of the top of my head.


EDIT: If you go outside the map, you may have access to areas that are not complete and are not ready for players to enter. Privileged information, such as when Gavel was being worked on.

 

Isn't the world surrounded by a huge void though? They wouldn't just put wynncraft on top of the flatlands...

I just figured so that people couldn't get to unfinished stuff even if they got out of bounds, and because of Ahmsord and stuff...

 

The first is yes, to keep people out of unfinished areas. The floating islands have a custom floor underneath them; it leads to Splattlandia, rather than the flatlands.
