Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"What ever happened to Luphyx? He was with us one moment and then he seemingly disappeared." Stephanie asks.

 

"Not entirely sure, really. But I still have this dagger that he gave me."
I pull out the light dagger, making sure it's far enough away from Shadow Stephanie.

 

Shadow Stephanie hisses at the dagger, before coughing, "What? I didn't say anything." She says, embarrassed.

"Can I see it?" Stephanie asks.

 

"Sure."
I carefully hand it to Stephanie, still keeping it as far as possible away from Shadow Stephanie without being awkward.

Stephanie carefully observes the light dagger.

 

The dagger is obviously made to be used defensively. The blade is curved away from the wielder, and it's only sharp on the inside of the curve. It doesn't feel quite balanced enough to throw, as too much of the weight is in the handle. The handle is ornate and almost seems to resemble a tree frog.

"Hmm, interesting," Stephanie says, handing the dagger back, "Maybe he gave it to you if Aj ever went out of control, haha."

 

"Maybe. But I don't think I'd have the guts to stab AJ in one of his incidents. He doesn't often attack, he just stands there and does strange things. If he was actually charging at one of us, seriously intent to hurt us, then I could use it, but when he's just standing still? I don't think I could."
I say, taking the dagger.

 

"Yeah, if Aj or I were going to attack one of you, we wouldn't run up to you flailing our weapons about in easy stabbing radius," Shadow Stephanie says, "There are more ways to physically harm someone, and even more ways to just harm someone."

 

"Yeah. I actually doubt the dagger would long enough to even defend against one of his strikes. I'm not entirely sure about its defensive capabilities."

 

"I can say for certain that a hit would do damage, though." Shadow Stephanie says, walking up to you. She puts her hand on the dagger blade, flinching slightly, and it burns a hole straight through her hand; some of her hand falling to the ground and dissipating. Shadow Stephanie quickly puts her other hand over her wounded one, focusing. As she removes her hand, her wounded hand regrows.

 

"So, you're a product of time passing? In semi-killer-robot form?"

"Mine aren't that sharp... I think."

"Virei'tus said he's curious about me, but I'm still a bit unsure of that..."

After quite a while, it's evident that the black lump is a huge dragon. There's a decent sized group of people near it, and they seem to point in your direction several times.

Ruby laughs her invisibility off.

 

"I don't trust him. At least we have Shadow Stephanie here, though." Artemis says.

 

"Okay, so let's not accidentally hit one of you with it."
I say, putting the dagger away.

"Hey Ruby."
I say offhandedly.

 

"Probably best, yeah." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

"True. The daggers kind of remind me of Nyre, though..."
Pause.
"Sorry."

"Ah, you're the other that Aj spoke of." Rineth says turning to look at Shadow Stephanie.


"Eheh... Sorry Abigail."
Ruby utters nervously.
"I couldn't figure out your plan, you got enraged too fast."

"He- uh... Welp."

 

"Would not be good, although you did manage to regenerate quite quickly."

"Why were you invisible?"
I ask Ruby.

 

"She's very proficient at using them, and she's not against us. I'm sure she could beat Nyre in a dagger duel any day." Artemis says, smiling.


"Hey Rin-Rin!" Shadow Stephanie says, smiling.


"I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't use your psy blasts on me in future. I don't need you intervening with my kills." Abigail says, slightly annoyed, "I don't know what you have for Drake, but you're not being the best pal when you keep inserting yourself between us."

"That's due to a variety of things. For one, I'm not exactly using up much magic right now, for two, I'm extremely powerful, and for three, it wasn't exactly a bad cut. Nonetheless, just because I can regenerate quickly doesn't mean you're free to cut me up. It still hurts, you know." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

"Yeah, I know. It's not like I'd go around, poking someone with a fork all day just because they don't bleed from it. It's just kinda good to know that you can do that, just in case."

 

"That's...sort of foreboding but, thanks!" Shadow Stephanie says, smiling.
