What Is All This Hype For " Overwatch "???

I may sound like i want to start a flame war here, but I really don't.


I dont get the point of this Overwatch hype. It looks like a combo of TF2 and SSB. Doesn't this world have it's share of FPS games already? With the 20+ games in the cod series and the 10 different games in the Halo Series, i think 2 successful series is enough. Even when DESTINY came out, I thought of how there's too many FPS games.

Okay, so let's milk the franchise of fps games and make a bunch of nintendo looking characters and put them right into TF2 and call it "Overwatch"!!!

i dont get why i should even think about paying my hard-earned money to get a TF2 ripoff.

so go and play Overratedwatch if you want. I'll just play an underrated game called Destiny.

If that's the case with Overwatch, then they have seen the success of the other major FPS games and think that they can produce a game that'll result in large profit. (I barely know anything about Overwatch, so don't qoute me on this.)

 

Why you hating on fps games, it's Blizzards first fps I'm pretty sure and it's really good.
It has more than twice as much classes/characters as tf2
It's pretty much just pay once, and pay more for cosmetics if you want to
Maybe if you played the open beta or watched some streams you would see everyone else's perspectives

I probably wouldn't have liked it if i played open beta, if there's a game with a fox mccloud-megaman crossover character you know it's bad

 

I played the open beta and I plan on purchasing it. It is one of the best games I've played in a while, and is pretty well thought out. No classes are overpowered or underpowered. There's a wide array of classes, each with different roles, which encourages players to switch around to help their team win. I can also see this game having a nice competitive scene.

It's outstanding that 9.7 million people played the open beta.

 

1. How is it a combo of SSB and Tf2? I see the TF2 standpoint, but SSB?
2. HAVE YOU SEEN HOW MANY DISLIKES COD INFINITE WARFARE HAS? HAVE YOU? HOW IS THAT SUCCESSFUL
3. It's blizzard's first take on the Fps genre of games, and most people want to see how it stands up to the hype, similarly to Nintendo and Splatoon.
4. Destiny isn't really that underrated, at least in my opinion. It's mostly good. Not great, but good, and that's how most people I know see it.

 

It's pretty underrated in my opinion, nobody plays it but it's a good game.

Come on guys, if a game was bad, would people still be playing it 4 years later?

 

I see where you're coming from but to me it just looks the same as Loadout, Battleborn, and Team Fortress 2 to me.

Like, I understand that it has more classes, but I just don't get why it has so much hype around it.

(Please don't take offense to that I think it's a good game I just don't get why people are so hyped.)

(The ad campaign is pretty good though tbh.)

I'm not saying overwatch is a BAD game, I just don't get why you guys are so hyped for a game which a company has no experience with the genre.
At least Splatoon wasn't really an "FPS" game, not because it's third person, but because it's not all killing people unless you are doing Campaign or Ranked Battles.

 

Ik it's just that people like a new fps once in a while, we haven't had any except for the same futuristic cod games amirite?

+overwatch is more of a casual fps and the last time we had that was when tf2 forst came out

 

i might look into overwatch, but i still doubt i'll like it

People are still playing it because they added a ton of new content, not because it was that amazing

Technically FPS just means first person shooter; it doesn't actually all have to be about killing. And if you think about it, every company who has a successful FPS started of with no experience in the genre. They all had to start somewhere. And you still haven't answered about why you think Overwatch looks like SSB
