"No, it's fine. I don't accept handouts. Thanks for the offer though. I'm sure they'll make it through." I say. I hand back the money.

 

"If you're sure. I'm still sorry about your friend."
She takes it back.
"Your shift ends in an hour and a half."
She walks into a back room.

 

"Do you have any idea on the sacrifices? I can probably fetch some from my world." I reply, sheathing my sword.

 

"It's just someone to bring it past the point of no return. They'll die."

 

"Ah, I see. Don't you think you can get a random draconian for that?

 

"I have no idea what could be. It could anything, but at the same time, very few things. There has to be reason that it's calling to her."

"Oh, hi!"

I look at the plants nearest to me.

Hythania walks up to Aj and says, "Where are Eras and Idala?"

 

"Anna, could you lead us to it?"

"Easily."

 

"Alright."

 

"We'll just have to get them to not kill themselves while going there..."

 

"Let's see...Perphaps we will have to somehow make them unable to control themselves. That could be a solution."

 

"That'd take quite a bit of effort. Problem is, if nobody's holding them tight, Bane is too lightweight and will be flung away from the portal."

 

"Perphaps, we could get Bane to morph into something that isn't all blade. Tie it to the sacrifice, and throw them into oblivion."

 

"I was thinking the handle..."

 

"Hmm, looks like I'm going to have to use magic to duplicate this." Abigail says, scanning the generator with her visor. She starts drawing seemingly random numbers into the ground.


"Well, you have to promise not to tell the others about this but...I found out Aj is the king of the shadows! We were first sent to the dining hall, where we could get whatever we wanted. Then I had to help Stephanie because she'd gotten hurt but...I sort of failed. She was in a really bad state and I couldn't stomach it...but, after that we went to some luxury beds, then I got breakfast and we went back here." Artemis explains.

"Queen of Darkness is afk," Shadow Stephanie says into her headset, before turning to look at Idala, "'Sup?"


They appear to be small, bulbous cacti. Their thorns look sharp, and unappealing to touch.

"Oh, hello. Are you here to re-connect with nature?" A forest guardian asks, smiling as she walks up to you.


"They're back in the palace in the realm of shadows. They weren't up when Ihra wanted to leave, so Shadow Stephanie said she'd take them back." I explain.

 

"Is it plausible? We don't need them now, we just need to be able to make more. He doesn't feel pain; Iruk will be a useful ally."
"It does bother me slightly I was named after the word for 'slave.' I'm open to better suggestions."
"Shut up, ex-killbot."
"Would you please stop calling me that?"
"I'm only stating truths."


"That's so cool! I'll keep it a secret. Though, why would a king want to help Ihra? Doesn't he like having his own personal army and stuff?"

 

"That can do, though maybe the spearhead was better. We could have attached it to a handle, and that would've made tying the thing to the sacrifice easier."

 

"Yes, it's plausible. Also, be nicer to Iruk; he seems nice, no reason to be mean," Abigail says, "For a new name, just off the top of my head, how about Mortallus?"


"I'm not sure; though it's awfully kind of him to place Ihra and the rest of us above his own kingdom." Artemis says.

"I find this quite surprising. I had no idea the boy was capable of such things." Myria says.

 

"Especially when it was only one weapon. Still..."
"Let me do it!" Pyk shouts, running down the hall.
"So-uh, Pyk?! Are you sure?"
"It's safer I do it. I'm but a puppet."
"But your master has long lost the ability to make more..."
"It's better me than another."
"Who'll tend the garden?"
"Ugh, just leave it up to the pushy one."
"Don't insult him."
"Well, are you going to let me carry it to Oblivion or not?"

"I'd rather keep it short, and I've kind of already memorized Iruk. I suppose I'll get used to it."
"He's a robot built to kill."
"I'm not killing you."
"Fair point."


"Very much so. He doesn't seem like what I think would be a king, but I'm not one to judge."

Pause.
"You know, it's been pretty peaceful since that one attack. In the past, something one notch higher always comes next. Think you're rested up for whatever it is?"

 

"Aj's a genocidal demon whose race is made to kill, and you seem completely fine with him. It's a little hypocritical to be mean to Iruk but fine with Aj." Abigail says.


"I-I hope so," Artemis says nervously, "I just don't want to get too badly hurt if we do end up fighting something."

"Don't worry Artemis, I'll keep you safe. Nobody shall bring harm to you." Myria says calmly.

 

"One came from the Hive Master, and the other is my-mouth-is-shut."
"What?"
"If I told you, you'd beg for me to kill you."
"Then I'm not asking."


"Well, Myria did give you some training. That ought to have helped."
