Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Thanks...I felt sort of bad when..." Katie stops herself from talking, "Uh, never mind. I felt bad about it, is all."

"I hope Stephanie and Abigail are alright..." Artemis says, concerned.

"They're probably fine. The palace is quite safe." Shadow Stephanie says calmly, sipping her juice.

 

"It's fine. Don't worry about it."
Ihra finishes her tea.

 

It seems most of the others have finished their food too.

Shadows come and take the platters away, along with the dirty plates and cups.

"That was exquisite." Artemis says happily.

"Yeah, bacon and egg sandwiches are the best." I say.

"Want to go get Stephanie and look for Abigail, then?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

"Give me a moment...I'm quite full..." Katie says.

 

"I'll go, but... Katie, are you sure you're okay?"

 

"Yeah, I'm alright. It's fine." Katie says. She manages to get up from the table.

The rest of the group gets up, and heads toward the exit of the dining hall. Katie takes a slower pace, hanging at the back.

 

"No, not at all. It's just that I was taught how I work, and what's inside me, just not how to work with it. They didn't want their subjects knowing how to modify themselves."

 

"Okay. No you're not. What's wrong?"

"At any rate, my tongue can taste things and if it doesn't help with speech, I don't know why it moves when I talk."

 

"Probably only the creators know. Once again, I'm not going to dwell on that. We still have a lot of blades to find. 28, actually."

 

"Indeed." I then proceed to take a swing at a dummy, making sure I don't hit the scale.

 

"There are the six I dropped all at once."
He walks towards them.

Clean cut.
"The scale's really only a warning sign. If someone brings in a weapon that damages it, we get rid of them. Can't have any insiders."

 

"Ahh. I was going to ask about why it was in here." I thrust my sword into a dummy and bring it up.

 

I follow him, picking up the blades.
"Alright. Once again, I'll keep them for now, and we'll figure it out later."
I glace at Iruk, considering something.
"But I'll give you two more for now."
I hand him two more blades.

 

Another cut.
"Mistress appreciates help, but she doesn't like the price of her life. Who would?"

The entryway goes pitch black, and a familiar giant eye opens in front of it.
"Just letting everyone know I'm going out."
"Understood, Mistress. Safe travels."
"Is Helianthus with you?"
"I... can't remember. Is that your name?"

He installs them on his wings.
"Thanks."
He pauses.
"I never said it explocitly, but I don't know what I can do to gain your trust. I have been made for combat and combat alone. That's not the easiest way into acceptance."

 

"Maybe that's not the way you'll get your wings. Maybe it'll be a bell."
I smile at Iruk.
"But all jokes aside, maybe it'll just be time that helps us trust you. It may be a sort of procrastination, but it might work."

 

"I can only hope. I'd thank you, but I suppose you heard that from the others you saved."

 

"A little thanks never hurt anyone."
I search around for more blades.

OOC: Collecting blades timeskip or nah?

 

I nod at Kyle. I then kneel in front of the eye and say, "I wish you safe travels, Most powerful and Great Misstress."

 

"Well, thanks anyways."
OOC: Sure.

"Thank you. I heard you were able to damage Bane. Perhaps you'll be able to have it gone by the time I'm back?"

 

"Okay. Let's split up and find as many blades as we can."

"I found nine, six of them I inserted so I could fly. Couldn't find any more."
