Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Yeah, we need to take a 8r8k." Katie says, smiling at me.

I high five Katie across the table.

A few moments later, a group of Shadows approaches the table, each holding platters. They lay the platters down in front of everyone, taking off the lids to reveal the food everyone ordered.

"Thank you." Artemis says happily, taking a spoonful of porridge.

"If there's anything else you want, just ask." The Shadoe says, smiling and walking a short distance away from the table.

Everyone starts eating their breakfast.

 

Ihra sips her tea, seeming to like it.
"Hey, Aj, did you ever figure out what was impersonating Shadow Stephanie when we first met?"

 

"Shumone wash impurshnating me?" Shadow Stepahnie asks halfway through some toast.

"I don't think it was impersonation, more mind control. It was Shadow Stephanie, just...sort of not." I say.

"I think it was Xlentia, since we were in the void and that's her place." Artemis says.

"Man, I remember having an emotional breakdown since I missed you so much." I say, thinking back.

"Awww," Artemis says, hugging me, "But wasn't that before our relationship was a more official thing?"

"Heh, yeah, I remember trying to pass myself off as dating Stephanie for some reason." I say, laughing slightly.

"Hah, you wish you could date her." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

"You weren't in the Void for long, though... Still, I take that as a no."

 

"Yeah. Still pretty weird though." I say.

"I remember thinking you were just some stranger Aj brought into his room in Shadow Home." Shadow Stephanie says, smiling.

 

"After he stabbed me? Yeah, that was something. One hell of a headache it was trying to talk in that state."

 

"Okay. I was just looking to do some odd jobs around town. I need some money for a doctor." I say as I continue the job.

 

"No...No, I think it was when you were fighting that mountain snake thingy. You were explaining some stuff about Miznyana, and it shocked you unconscious. I took you to Shadow Home because I was afraid you'd be hurt if you stayed where you were." I explain.

"Didn't Aj stab you over your egg tooth or something?" Artemis asks.

Katie keeps to herself, listening to the conversation, but focusing on eating her breakfast.

 

"Oh? For you or a friend?"

"I got mad at him for that, but I think he did after I got angry."

 

"Do you still have it?" I ask.

Shadow Stephanie seems intrigued.

 

"Yeah." She mutters, glaring at you.

 

"Can I see it?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

I go back to eating my bacon and egg sandwiches, pretending I didn't just cause the series of events.

 

It's a tiny horn on the tip of her snout. Helpful for breaking out of an egg at a hatchling's size, but completely useless now.

 

"That looks adorable." Shadow Stephanie says.

Shadow Stephanie suddenly summons her pair of daggers in her hands, "So I guess I stab you now?" She says, grinning.

"I'll stab you in a minute..." I mutter.

 

"It's supposed to with humans. But with humans, they have vocal cords near their throats, and the sounds travel through their throat. I do too, and that's what lets them speak, and the tongue assists with that. You don't have a throat."
Pause.
"I'll just not dive into that."

 

"No. Please. No need."
Ihra's eyes widen.

"Hey, is it my fault I wasn't taught how I work?"

 

"I'm just messing with you." Shadow Stephanie says, de-summoning her daggers.

"Hey, Ihra, sorry for flooding everywhere when we first met. I probably should've considered not everyone can swim." Katie apologises suddenly.

 

"No, it's fine. Just caught me by surprise."
Ihra smiles at her, trying to comfort Katie.

 

"A...friend. He can't come in the city." I say, continuing my job.

 

"That bad, huh? What happened to him?"
