"I'll probably forget it. Big Three, eh? Got a reputation?"

"As a robot, staying awake is an entirely different concern."

 

"Yes...ish. I'm sort of at a dangerous area with the group my other body is going with. On one hand, they aren't banishing me from the group or anything, but on the other, I'm kinda the last person they'd trust."

"Oh? You're a robot? Like Arnold?"

 

"What're they trying to do?"

"Who?"

 

"I don't know anymore. One moment they're trying to get to Brisignr, the next they're hanging out in another dimension with a race of genocidal demons. It's ridiculous."

"Ah, no one."

 

"I'm going to stop asking. It hardly matters to me anyways."

"I don't think I like you... You're hiding a lot."

 

"Eh, maybe in the future. Well, on a side note, the newest addition, a kill-robot whom one of our members had the novelty to name "Iruk" doesn't trust my other body anymore."

"Welcome to the group, then."

 

"You're making less sense the more I listen to you, so I stopped listening. Are you done running your mouth?"

"Fair point."

 

"Yep."

 

"No, it's fine. I must have been misdirected." I say. I start to leave.

 

"Not even a tongue? Man, they left you with nothing but the structure and sentience of a human, huh."

 

There's no traces of anything; it seems the dining hall has been cleaned and set back to how it was. It's like the brawl never even happened.

"No wonder, your necklace is missing. Where'd you leave it?" I ask, looking at the space where Ihra's necklace should be.

"Here, I have a spare." Shadow Stephanie says, throwing Ihra a new necklace. The crystal on the necklace is shaped like a shield.

A Shadow walks over to the table, "What can I get you all for breakfast?" She asks, smiling.

"Could I get some porridge and mint tea?" Artemis asks.

"I'll have some bacon and egg sandwiches, and mint tea like Artemis." I say, smiling at Artemis. She smiles back.

"Chocolate toast, orange juice and a bowl of cereal, thanks." Shadow Stephanie says.

"Um, may I have mashed potato and sausages? And, a glass of water, please." Katie asks.

"And, for you, Miss Ihra?" The Shadow asks, looking toward Ihra.

 

"Good. Good duel, though."

"You're in the right place, I just recommend you ask before starting work. Don't worry, I'll count that towards your wage."

"I have a tongue. It can taste, but that's it. Not sure why I have it, but apparently it helps with speech."

"Thanks Shadow Stephanie. I dunno where it went.
Um... Can I have tea?"

 

As Ihra puts on the necklace, everything becomes sharper, brighter, easier to sense. Sounds ring clearer, the dining hall doesn't seem so dark, and the colours on the ceiling seem more vibrant; easier to tell apart.

"Sure, any specific type of tea?" The Shadow asks, smiling. Her black skin and red eyes seem a lot more detailed since putting on the necklace.

 

"Uh..."
She nervously turns to Artemis.
"...Recommend something, please?"

 

"She'll have camomile tea." Artemis says.

"Alright, I'll be back soon with your food and drink." The Shadow says happily, walking off.

"Ooh, camomile. Good choice." Shadow Stephanie says, clearly appreciative of Artemis' choice.

 

"Thanks."
She pauses, then laughs a bit.
"At least I didn't ask for 'flower water.' Heh... I bet those days don't feel very distant to you guys."

 

"Man, that's a throwback." I say.

"I don't remember that all too well." Artemis says.

"I think only Abigail and I were around to hear it. Man, feels like just yesterday. You were so young, Ihra!" I say happily. There's a slight tone of sadness in my voice; small, but present.

 

"Heh, yeah..."
She sighs.
"Sometimes I think those days were easier."
She shakes her head.
"Still, I know what I need to do now. Let's just ignore it until we get there, okay?"
Ihra winks at you.

 

"Out of sight, out of mind, as they say." Shadow Stephanie says.

I sigh, trying to smile at Ihra.

"You can't escape the passage of time. It's ever flowing, never stopping." Artemis says.

"Well, technically you can, but for the sake of your statement I'll let it slide." I say.

 

"Let's just focus on where we are now. We're getting the break Ruby cautioned us to get. Let's take it."
