Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"A crossbow? Well, that made this easy. My nightmare took my form. Did the king ever mention the name 'Nyre' to you? I'd bet his brain it's Nyre, assuming he had one."
She takes a breath.
"Please pardon me, I don't do well under pressure."

She flips open her black tome.
"Ah, here...

...yep!
...huh?

...No..."
She shuts the tome and passes out on the spot.

The distorted form of her holds its crossbow at her neck.
"Keen, aren't you? I can't let the credit go to her, though. You, who called her a witch. Do not tempt her lest you wish to become like me."
The form throws its dagger onto the plate in front of the guard who called Ihra a witch.

 

"You bloody ass! I'll knock yer teeth out!" The guard (who called Ihra a witch) says angrily, switching layers of reality and diving the distorted Ihra, proceeding to follow through with what he said he'd do.

 

I start to walk to the inn the guards pointed to. I walk inside, and ask the man at the bar, "Do ya' know where I could get some work?"

 

I cancel the charge, circling upwards and back to my original spot.
"Correct. There is something. I pissed him off by freeing three draconians."

 

"I don't even know what kind of enemy will have skin or armor this thick." I make sure to put emphasis on enemy, as if to ward off anyone thinking that Xlentia is my enemy. "Well, how about a sparring match?" I ask the guard as I slash at the dummy, thrust my sword into it, and then spin my sword around while attempting to slide it out.

 

Eras and Idala continue sleeping.

"So you haven't seen much of it? I haven't, except for the Void Palace, but that isn't really 'this world'."

"Hopefully. Eras seems to know a lot about her and her race somehow."
She's definitely waking up.
---
"Ah, okay. Oh, and I was wondering, are there any languages you would recommend trying to learn? I want to learn a new one. So far, I only know Dark Script and the common tongue."

 

After sleeping for a long while, the sound of birdsong soon fills the outside, and a twilight sun rises. It seems to have been a long night.

 

[Idala]
She has a shower again and puts her other clothes back on.
Idala then looks outside again.

[Me]
I continue sleeping. Though I start talking in my sleep.
"Please don't die..."

 

It's a sunny day, or as sunny as it can get in a realm full of creatures of darkness. A dark sun lazily rises in the sky, shedding a twilight light across the land. It strangely seems bright enough to be considered normal for a morning sun. A few red eyed, black birds fly between the trees within the palace walls; their birdsong quite pleasant. The streets within the city are full of Shadows, bustling about, trying to get to their own places. Guards still patrol the walls of the palace, keeping watch.

Out on the plains, there seems to be a black, red eyed fox staring straight at Idala.


A guard instinctively opens the door, looking in on you to make sure you're alright.

 

Idala looks at it curiously.

He continues to sleep, but with the dream.
"I'm sorry... it's my fault you're like this now... this should never have happened."
Is it the guard's imagination, or do they hear a faint reply from nowhere in particular?
"It's perfectly normal to feel a slight guilt and sadness at the victim's death, created by your visual sensors relaying messages to your brain, making hormones circulate around the body, by the blood, to give the emotions 'sad' or 'guilty'.

 

The fox just sits there. It's so far away it's incredibly small, but its eyes pierce through the distance, and it appears to be within close range of the palace. The fox lazily wags its tail from side to side.


"Mister Eras, are you feeling alright?" The guard asks, concerned.

 

"Being stalked by a fox outside of a heavily guarded palace I'm inside... never expected this."
She goes to the door and goes out of the bedroom.

It seems the dream has changed.
Because he says, "No, I am your father. Join me. It is your destiny."
"His brain is looking at possible alternatives and past events based on certain selected memories or anything the subject has come across. The pure alcohol he consumed clouded his judgement, therefore his brain's judgement also, making it select some surprising memories and possibilities."

 

The guard moves out of the way of the door as Idala opens it.

"Good morning, Miss Idala, I hope you had a restful sleep," The guard says, "Would you like to go to the dining hall for breakfast?"


"Mister Eras, I think the consumption of pure alcohol has badly affected you. Would you like me to take you to the medical ward?" The guard asks.

 

"Yes please."

"Join me and we will rule the galaxy."
"Oh, he's fine. While alcohol will severely damage and often kill the subject, beings with more energy to sustain themselves with to counter the poison will survive in most cases."

 

"Then follow me, Miss Idala." The guard says, walking toward one of the elevators down the hall.


"Are you sure you're alright, Mister Eras?" The guard asks. She seems rather concerned.

 

She follows the guard.

The dream seems to change again...
...and he starts singing 'pink fluffy unicorns dancing on rainbows'.
"I'm beginning to question this hypothesis too. The dilemma is, there is a 99.9% chance that he won't die or have any permanent damage or condition."
Is it your imagination or can you feel a nearby presence, on top of hearing the voice?

 

The guard heads into the elevator, and starts turning the crystal dials to specific positions. He then turns the centre dial, and everything goes black.

Idala finds herself outside the doors to the dining hall. The guard seems to have disappeared.


The guard looks around, on multiple layers of reality, for the presence.

 

Idala goes through the doors and into the dining hall.

The presence is a ghost. Which soon appears on the normal reality level.
They are standing near the bed but not right next to it. They seem to be wearing a suit.
"I haven't produced a spiritual link to reality in a long time... in fact, I'm only 50% certain I've done this before."
I continue singing pink fluffy unicorns dancing on rainbows, but I seem to be going faster and more high pitched.

 

The dining hall is fairly empty, apart from a few guards and other palace workers.

A Shadow walks over to Idala, "Good morning, Miss Idala. What could I get you for breakfast?" She asks, smiling.


"Oh, hello there," The guard says, "Do you know what's wrong with Mister Eras? I believe there's more to him than just alcohol."

 

"Please can I have... a pizza crumpet?"

"Excellent hypothesis! Although, the only problem is the alcohol itself. Anything else has been caused by it. Right now, his brain is producing randomised experiences based on previous thoughts, memories or possibilities, otherwise known as dreams."
