Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Well, try to not kill anyone else, alright?" Abigail asks, looking up from her breakfast.

As Ihra mentions she's a healer, a few of the guards on a nearby table chuckle. It could just be a coincidence...or maybe not...?

 

"At least until I can get a medic. One may be able to come outside the city." I say. "North of here is a Ronam." I start to go north.

 

His wings turn from apparently normal wings to unwoven blades.
"A little water for the arrogant one?"
He congeals water in his free claw and throws it at your face.

"I didn't even try! I. Was. Asleep!" She complains, shooting the guards a frustrated look.

"Hey, you seem to know what happened. Tell me!"
A small red streak is visible across her left eye.

"H-hey, wait up!"
Opal gathers the canteens and does his best to keep up.

 

The guards just go back to eating their food, ignoring Ihra and talking amoungst themselves. Ihra's name can be just about heard amoungst their conversation, however.

Abigail just goes back to eating her breakfast, not wanting to engage.

 

On instinct, I put my head down after the half second it took me to comprehend the sentence.
"How tough are your bones?"
I say quickly, ramming my skull into his ribs.

 

Ihra reaches out to you telepathically.
"Aj? Are you awake? Please be awake..."

That gets you nowhere.
"Solid metal. Yours?"
He punches you in the back of the neck.

 

"Ditto."
Sam result.
I let go of the robot, before arcing to the side and start flying that way instead of down.

 

"That's a rather odd question to ask, mister unicornius. Especially when the puppy races are soon. I hope Abigail doesn't skip the race like she always does." I respond. It seems I'm still dreaming.

 

I chuckle, moving on to a tougher dummy and taking a swing at it.

 

He chases you.
"They never told me my target was a robot."
He blasts freezing water at you, barely missing.

"Nevermind."
Ihra looks back to the guards.

"Well, talking about me behind my back could be a lot more subtle than you're making it."

To your surprise, you jar your shoulder as the blade bounces off the dummy.

 

"They never told me I had someone chasing me. I guess I got the short end of the stick on that one."
I shout just enough so the robot can hear me.
I quickly draw my broadsword, and head for the nearest tree.
I make sure to keep hold of my broadsword.

 

"Oof!" I exclaim, clutching my shoulder. "I think now's a great time for me to take a break."

 

"You don't have to kill to survive. Don't tell me about the short end."
They stay above the treeline, watching you carefully.

"Heh, that's not a dummy. Go ahead, nobody's keeping you here."

 

I carve off a good chunk of the tree, not too big, and not too small.
I then stop flying, and slice a hole through the middle of the piece of wood I made.
I cut off a bit of the middle of the side without bark.
Then finally, I slip the my left arm through the hole I made, keeping my sword in the right.
I have a crude shield now.

I fly above the treetops, and locate the robot.

 

I walk at a slow pace so Opal can keep up.

 

"What is it then? I could've sworn it was a dummy." I say, sitting down and drinking water from my canteen.

He's just hovering there.
"Iruk'ne." He mutters.

Two of the blades that make up his wings break off. He grabs them before they fall.
"You have thirty blades until you've got me cornered."

"Thanks."

When the city comes into view over the horizon, Opal stops walking.
"Is there anywhere to hide?"

"It's one of Xlentia's old molted scales."

 

"Well, if we're being real, I'm your target. You're not my target. So you have to get me. So, bye now!"
I fly off in the other direction.

 

"Oh." I say, realizing my mistake. "Say, when was the last time you went in the library?"

"Let's start looking." I say. "Try to be stealthy, since these people won't be too happy if they see you. I'll scout the area." I start to search the area for a place where someone of Opal's size can hide for hours.
