Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Yes." As we walk, I empty the bottles on the ground. "I'm glad we decided not to drink this." I say as I look at the sickly green color of the water.

 

"Thanks, Ihra. You're a great friend." Abigail says happily.

As the final dial is turned, everything goes black. The pair find themselves outside the dining hall.

Abigail skates toward the door, thanking the guard who opens it for her. She skates toward the table she sat at before, sitting in one of the chairs and leaning her skateboard on her chair.

 

"Ugh... Did they really drink that on that caravan?"

Ihra follows, trying to hide her worry as she approaches the guard at the door.

 

"Maybe, maybe not." I say. "The attackers may have poisoned it in case others came across it." I continue walking south to the lake.

 

"Probably's what happened."

After a hideously long walk, you reach the lake.

 

The guard stands sentry at the door, holding it open. He watches Ihra as she passes through, with a stern expression, yet stays where he is.

A Shadow walks over to Abigail, "What can I get you for your breakfast, Miss Abigail?" She asks.

"Can I get like...bacon, eggs...tomatoes, toast and orange juice?" Abigail asks.

"Sure thing, Miss Abigail," The Shadow says. Noticing Ihra approach, she asks "Would you like anything, Miss Ihra?"

 

I start to wash and fill the many canteens. "Can i have some help?" I ask Opal.

 

"No thanks." She says, looking to see if anyone else is in the dining hall.

He helps, but he's slow.
"Doesn't this contaminate the water?"

 

"I wouldn't think so." I say. "I rinsed them in the lake and dumped out the dirty water."

 

"Very well. If you ever want anything, just ask." The Shadow says, smiling, before walking off.

Apart from a few other Shadows, guards and nurses, the dining hall is quite empty. Dim light pours in from some of the large windows.

"I wonder how Steph's holding up." Abigail says, tugging at some of the tangles in her hair.

 

"Well, we still need to drink. Don't forget that."
There were five canteens; by the time you finished cleaning four, he finished cleaning one.

"I think she's doing well. She was recovering, so the night probably helped."

 

"I really think you should get the wound looked at..." I say in a worried tone. I take a long drink from the lake. "You should probably do the same" I say.

 

"The Hell's your problem?"
I say, grabbing it by the forearms and flying upwards.
While I'm holing him, I constantly pump my arms up and down to keep him off balance for a good strike.

 

"Yeah...I should go check on her after breakfast," Abigail says, rubbing her eyes, "I'm glad she's alright. One of my best friends; don't know what I'd do without her."

A little while later, the Shadow returns holding a silver platter. She takes the lid off, revealing the food Abigail requested.

"Thanks." Abigail says happily, cutting into a slice of bacon.

The Shadow stands a short distance away from the table, smiling.

 

"As long as I keep it frozen, I'll be okay."
He drinks slowly, obviously still thinking about his situation.

You grab one arm, but can't grab the other. They continue to try and claw you, as well as using their wings to make you turn upside down.

"I'll probably stay here. Seems I killed someone in my sleep, though they even said I never got out of bed. How the hell would that work? I was asleep!"

 

"That's pretty badass. You can kill in your sleep without moving." Abigail says, biting into a tomato.

Shadows, guards, nurses and various other palace workers slowly filter in and out of the dining hall; each of them eating their own breakfasts and presumably returning to their jobs.

 

"Alright, you want to fall? Let's fall."
I keep hold of their arm, and turn myself so I'm on top of them.
I let my feet fly up in the air.
I make sure to keep holing his arm, and grab his clothing as well.
I keep him at arms length away from me.

 

"Oh, that was self-induced? I see..." I say to him. "How long can you keep it like that?"

 

"No, it's not. I'm a healer. I don't know how it's possible."

They grunt.
"As a fellow robot..."
A powerful shock courses through both of you.

"Long enough, I hope."

 

"That feels good. Is that magic, or just the way you're built?"
I start flying more at a diagonal that just straight down.
"Also, nice wings."
