Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Thank you, sir. I'm glad we could please you." The Shadow replies happily.

 

After a while, I say, "Thank you helping with that. I've finished now."

 

You feel the Shadow's presence leave, and she appears next to you.

It seems Artemis, Abigail and Katie have finished too. Yours and Abigail's assistants take your platters, and a few more Shadows come to take the rest.

The large Shadow walks over, "Now, would any of you like anything else to eat? Maybe something to drink?" He asks.

"Could I get some apple juice?" Artemis asks.

"Maybe some Lemon Sorbet and a glass of water, please?" Katie asks sweetly.

"Bring me a glass of whiskey!" Abigail says.

"Alcohol? Are you sure Abigail?" The large Shadow asks.

"I can handle my booze." Abigail says, leaning back.

The large Shadow sighs, turning to you, "Would you two like anything else?"

 

"I don't know if I can get it off my horns. Actually... I don't think I can get it off my wings. Um..."
Ihra looks a bit sheepish.

Upon finding them and pulling a book off the shelf, you find an account of a scholar's view of a war.
They were training to become a healer, but were captured and, fortunately, allowed to continue their studies in captivity.

"Good."

"Can we switch subjects? This one's giving me a headache..."

"Ah... I'm sorry to hear that. The Birthlake sounds like a nice place... Have you considered showing Ihra?"

"Various people who wrote the books. We can't rewrite those, else the scribes will die. It's kind of a downside, but most of the books aren't rigged."

As you two sneak by the guards, Opal creates a barrier of sorts behind you once you get past the defensive walls they set up.
"We're out of earshot and that barrier will hide us. We'll be safe until the sun rises, then they'll go after us."
He pauses.
"So, I never got your name..."

"The other rapier..."

A sphere of energy surrounds Vei, and she waits for the bolts to hit.
"Uthrail, you're wasting your time with me."

 

"Well, that's a problem. Just go lie on one of the massage beds, then. I'm sure they can give you a massage with your clothing on." Shadow Stephanie says, before heading into the changing room.

 

"Okay."
She does as told, still a bit confused.

 

A different Shadow, presumably the masseur, waits by the bed.

"Uh, miss, I think you'll want to take off a majority of your clothing. It's a little awkward to give a massage when your clothes are still on." He says.

"It's fine, she can't get her cloak off." Shadow Stephanie shouts, walking over in what looks like a black and gold bikini.

Shadow Stephanie lies on the bed next to Ihra's, smiling at her.

"Well...ok, if you say so, your highness." The Shadow says. He stands in the middle of the two beds, beginning the massage. He appears to have an extra pair of arms and hands; both working independently on Shadow Stephanie and Ihra.

The massage is very relaxing.

 

"I'm Adawale. Former chief. So, could you tell me what you are?" I say to her.

 

"This is almost better... than a..." *yawn*

...nap.

"Adawale? Pleased to meet you. I am Opal; as for what I am, others call us draconians."

 

"It's always a shame when my subjects go to sleep." The Shadow says, slightly annoyed.

"Don't worry about it. She's prone to falling asleep easily." Shadow Stephanie says.

Shadow Stephanie whistles, and a guard walks over.

"Yes, my queen?" The guard asks.

"Please take Ihra here to one of the luxury bedrooms, and make sure nobody but the king or I disturbs her whilst she sleeps." Shadow Stephanie says.

"It shall be done, my queen." The guard says, picking Ihra up and carrying her away.

 

Miznyana has an awkward teleportation loop as she's carried off. Since her claws aren't gripping it, it's teleporting to her, falling, and repeating once the staff gets a certain distance from her.

Other than that, she's fast asleep.

 

The guard heads into a strange elevator of sorts, and turns a crystal dial. He and Ihra are teleported to a hallway with a few doors on either side.

The guard carries Ihra into one of the rooms in the hall, leading into a rather large and luxurious bedroom. He lays Ihra on the silken four poster bed, placing Miznyana on a small bed-side table, and covers her over. He reaches up and affixes a yellow crystal over Ihra, which provides a dim light, before leaving; carefully and quietly closing the door behind him.

 

Some odd sounds can be heard inside, but it's mostly just snoring.

 

The guard waits patiently outside, keeping any eye out for anything suspicious. He occasionally teleports into Ihra's room to make sure everything is alright, before teleporting out again.

A few Shadows walk past, tending to their own matters in the palace, though other than that, the hallway is empty.

 

I look around. "Seems as if we have a bit of time. I don't know the land outside of the desert very well. Where do your people come from? I'm quite curious, as I've never seen any other sentient races other than humans."

 

When he teleports in, flowering vines seem to be slowly crawling up towards the crystal.

"Nor do I. My people aren't of this world, though ours is crumbling."

 

The guard seems slightly concerned, but simply shakes his head and teleports out.

"Looks like the cleaners have extra work on their hands." He says quietly to himself, keeping watch.

 

"Where do you come from? I wasn't aware of other continents. Well, I welcome you, but I doubt others will. To the east is a kingdom who doesn't care about other races, and to the south is an empire who built a wall to keep others out. There is an island, however, that has people who aren't so unfriendly. So...can you tell me of your homeland?"

 

Eventually, Ihra yawns, stretches, and rolls off the bed.

"I'm not sure what my home is called anymore. Still, it sounds like we both need to flee to that island."

 

The floor is a soft carpet, almost as soft as the bed. The room is empty, the guard remaining outside. The whole area is silent, and a slight warmth fills the room. It seems there's a few warm coals in a small fireplace on the left side of the room. Rather odd for a bedroom, but nonetheless comforting.
