"Well, these are evil people we're talking about. You'd have to be insane to think about being evil willingly."

"Okay... why?"

"Ah, thank you Emily."
He takes both and reads the reprint.

 

"It's a complicated thing for her, it seems. I don't want to rush her on it or anything."

 

"Why not talk to her then? See how she feels right now?" Katie asks, "I think she'd really enjoy your company, even if she doesn't look like it."

I just sigh.

 

"I'm as good as dead like this."

"No problem."
Ragnyon smiles.

"I know, but still... It's hard to comprehend."

"So, at night, I kind of react with the moonlight. If I lose myself, the tap lets me know between friend, passersby, and foe."

Reed taps Daras' shoulder and Anna's shoulder, then tries to tap Eras' shoulder.

The reprint is just like the copy you read, but it doesn't have the envelope in it.

 

"Just..."
It's clear I don't want to talk about it.

 

"Why don't you hand me control of your body for a bit then? Well, I guess you'd be controlling my body in a sense." I respond.

"Sorry, I'm being confusing. I could empower you and grant you my strength to move." I add.

"Hey Aj! Could you come over here for a moment!?" Stephanie shouts to me happily.

I head towards Stephanie.

"I guess it isn't my place to pry, sorry." Katie says apologetically, dropping the subject.

 

"It'd be a temporary fix. I should be up and moving soon."

 

"It's fine. I never thought It'd be mine."

 

"So...do you want me to or not? I'm not charging a premium or anything, so you could just say when you were strong enough and I'd stop empowering you." I respond.

I head back over.

"It was nothing, don't worry about it. She went back on what she wanted to say." I say.

Katie smiles happily.

 

"Well, alright then."
I walk a bit away from the group and the lava pool, and start looking at the drawing again.

 

Her tail splashes in the lava a bit.
"No thanks. I'm just about... That's a whole lot less numb... I'm just about up I think."

 

Both drawings are incredibly detailed, and signed with a small 'Steph~' in the bottom right corner. A lot of work seems to have been put into the drawings, and they look half real. It seems Stephanie wanted the drawings to be of the highest possible quality.

"Welcome back to the world of the conscious. I was starting to get worried." I respond, kneeling by the lava pool.

 

Her head surfaces.
"Thanks... Good to know people have feelings towards me other than 'I am going to stab you so stop moving.'"

 

"I think you've come from a very corrupt place if that's the only feeling you know of." I say, reaching my arm out to help Ruby out of the pool.

 

I make sure to remember everything about these drawings.
They look very good, and they're the first pieces of art I've really seen.

 

Other than the signature and contents of the drawing, there's not much else to remember. The paper they're drawn on is a pure white, almost magical looking.

 

"Eh... You're not wrong..."
She reaches partway up, grunts, then lets her hand drop back in the pool.
"A bit longer, apparently."

 

I neatly fold the papers, and put them in the pocket I don't keep my rag in.

 

"The offer's still there if you want it." I say, "But I'm not going to dive into that pool to help you out, that's Abigail's deal."

 

"I know, I know. I'll be fine."
