Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

You end up just tapping the bottom of my foot.
I fly up in the sky, and then land a ways away, but still clearly visible.
I bend down on the ground, and tap it twice, quite loudly.
A tap out.
I sheath my blade.

 

I sheathe my sword and spear inside my cloak. "Crossbow, if you please." I say, extending my hand.

 

"Oh, yeah. Hold on."
I fly bit farther away, in a certain direction.
I come back with your crossbow.
"Here."
I hand the crossbow to you.

 

I nod, taking the crossbow and placing it inside my cloak. "Why did you tap out anyways?"

 

"I got enough of me flying around you wildly, and I'm sure you did too. There was too much of the element of not being in a real fight. You got the point across of what it's like to fight in that body. I thought I'd stop us there."

 

"Are you finally done now?"

You hear the voice again.

"I made some tea while I was waiting for you to be done. Interested?

You suddenly see a tea set, still steaming, simultaneous to everything else you see. It's fairly disorienting, almost like visual telepathy. The kettle and cups are a harsh bright orange.

 

"I wasn't able to fight properly because of something..."

"Tch, you're back, Lyphus." I think, drawing my sword.

 

"Ly- oh. Now that's just offensive right there. That you would even think to confuse that old coot for me... Y'know what? I wasn't even planning on seriously attacking anyone. But now I've been insulted, and I cannot allow you to go unpunished."

Before you have time to respond, the world vanishes, and is replaced by a sort of grid pattern overlaying what can only be the ground. In front of you is a cross-looking humanoid, with bright orange hair (like, BRIGHT ORANGE). He is wearing a lab coat that looks like it's way too big for him, and... he's only four and a half feet tall. He seems about 8. He glares at you furiously.

 

"And you're Luphyx's wannabe, I assume? I figured doing something so simple like that would get you to show yourself. Heh."

 

"Oh sure, act as smug as you want. Not like you're going anywhere at all."

He grins at you maniacally.

 

"Yes, him. Last time he came, when the draconians nearly took you and Ihra, he tried to take control of me."

"I was joking. That must have been a powerful spell if it wasn't created based on an already existing object."

"We'll bring her back to the group. When she wakes up, we won't need to stop her from going. Without magic, she won't last long, so she has to stay with us. Then I think she will try to get to know the group, since that is the sort of thing young Krontyri do. In the end, she might try to help us."

"Ah, thank you."
Arnold makes his way to the librarian desk.
When he reaches it, he asks, "I wish to go into the archives. I've heard that there might be a spell for recreating damaged pages in there. I found a burnt note in the back of a novel which was signed by a King, but most of the note was burnt, so I want to recreate the note. If you have a book containing a spell which could do this, can you allow me to see it?"

 

"Alright. You have a chair and table around here? I'd like to make myself home, since I'm not going anywhere." It seems I am perfectly apathetic about this, though the fact that my cloak is hiding every part of my body except my mouth makes it hard to tell.

 

"No chairs or tables here. No nothing. Have fun dying of thirst."

With this, he pouts, folding his arms and turning away.

 

"Oh well." I say, sitting down cross-legged. I pull out a tea cup and a small canteen. I pour some tea in the teacup. "I always come prepared with tea. Helps calm you down in the heat of battle. Want some?" I ask.

 

He glances back at you, then turns away again with a resounding "hrumph!"

 

"You know... It's starting to get tough to forgive you. You say sorry, then keep going back to what you were doing. I'm trying to give you the benefit of the doubt, but..."


A twisted version of her voice echoes in your mind.
"...I'm running out of doubt..."

"It was him...? Then..."
A tear runs down her snout.
"Child, I want to protect you. I know I can't keep up, but I want to and I can. I can see the spectral plane. I can move about it. I'm not useless there. I can help. I want to. I don't want to be the burden who sits on the sidelines, watching in horror as everyone I know dies in front of me."

"Didn't you see her recreate her mother? Straight magic. Perfect weave. She's a powerful sorceress, but she specializes in healing and light magic."

"So, hold her against her will and she'll submit because she has no other choice? Is this the part of you that went after Aurilon?"

The draconian is shrouded in a dark mist. Only their blue eyes stand out.
"Of course... Arnold. That was the original book, copy of the page from another print. Daras signed it. The Archives aren't for reliving memories, you know..."

"...she didn't kill us..." their voice echoes in the back of Arnold's head.
The two-pronged tip of a blade can be seen on the back wall where Ruby was once mounted. The rest is distorted by darkness.

 

"What's wrong? Don't tell me you're gonna cry!" I say, again, apathetically, sipping from my cup.

"No offense or anything, but hearing twisted version of voices in my head is a staple for me in this group. I think it'd just be easier for both of us if you just said it normally using your mouth." I say.

 

"What do you mean you hear voices in your head? I could help... Let me look."
She sits down and starts paging through the green tome.

"...it takes more than that to get rid of me..." The voice echoes.

 

"Oh, there's just your voice echoing through my head. This is...the third time I believe. There was AJ, then Luphyx, and now you. Eh."

"Look, I don't need my other body in another weird room, mkay?" I think.

 

He glances back out of the corner of his eye... and then whips himself around, kicking you flat in the jaw. He looks substantially happier afterwords.
