Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"For something that seems like a negative effect to you, 'mark my words' doesn't seem like the right phrase."
I randomly comment.

 

"Yeah, there. That's a better way to say what I was trying to."

 

"I am simply telling you to remember what I am saying." The cloaked man says, unmoving. It seems I've busied myself with attempting to make tea.

 

"Alright, if you're giving me permission to, I will." I respond.

I walk over to Stephanie, "Hey Stephanie, I'm going to be dead soon; I need you to look after my Shadow Crystal until I come back." I say quietly.

"W-What? Why are you going to die?" Stephanie asks, confused and concerned.

"I need to purge something from my body. Don't worry, I know what I'm doing." I reply.

"O-oh...ok..." Stephanie says, saddned.

I turn to Ihra, "Hey Ihra, wanna see something cool?" I ask, smiling.

 

"I'll try."

"Uh... What?"

 

"Me getting rid of whatever force had control over me by killing myself!" I say in an oddly happy tone for such a dark subject.

 

"Whe? Will that actually work?"

 

"Yup, it'll kill it along with myself! See ya!" I say, before slicing myself in half with Shadow Katana; blood spilling everywhere. My two bloody halves form a Shadow Crystal, which Stephanie picks up.

"Hello from the afterlife...in a sense." I say to Ruby telepathically.

 

"I... Uh..."
Ihra's dumbstruck.

"Been there, done that. The machine was hell."

 

"He should be alright, don't worry." Stephanie says, trying to smile.

"How bad was it?" I ask, "As in, what was it like?"

 

"How long until he stops being a little crystal thingy?"


"It was like having someone else regulate your vitals. My aura was balanced so I wouldn't blow up the library; in turn, it slowly grew more potent before I knew the exact location of everything and everyone in Mistress' palace. Eventually, I learned the layout of the place, names, how clones were made, where the brainwashing was done... all that crap. Of course, I did have to manage the library. Which is only a couple dozen stories, no pun intended. It's easily as big as a city, chock full of books from different languages. I've bothered to learn them all."

 

"Some advice: if you ever go to the Void Palace and want to look through the pillars, look at the gold or silver ones. The green and white ones are also fine. The black and the red one are the ones you should avoid. The final pillar is going to contain the events which happen in the Darklands after all of this is over... though from seeing Xlentia, it seems possible that the future will be the same as the black pillar's memories... or worse."

 

"Huh? Do you have a problem with our deity here in this world, or what? Wait... I heard she was corrupted. That's why you've the grim thought, isn't it? If I ever do visit, which I sadly doubt I'll be able to, I'll keep that in mind."

 

"I doubt anyone could do your job other than you." I say, offering Ruby a cup of tea. The cloaked man is still silent/meditating/watching, but there is a cup of tea in front of him.

I limp back to the village, and rip out the arrow. I look for a medic.

 

"I don't think she's much up for tea when she's physically the equivalent of unconscious in a pool of lava."
I whisper.
"I also think that having two bodies is confusing you."

 

"It is."

 

It takes all day, and you barely come back alive. If you had any less luck, you would've died.

You wake up in a brace, on horseback. The medic is shaking you gently, trying to wake you up.
"Go... Please! Their army is coming, just go! Just get out of here! I don't care how, wake up! Please, go!"

"Drake, come on. Be at least a little patient."

 

"I am being patient." The cloaked figure says, suddenly aiming his crossbow at an apple on my head. "Hold still, me." The cloaked figure says.

 

"Please tell me I'm not the only one completely confused on what's going on here...?"
