Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I'm glad you like them. Whew... Uhn... Might you have water or obsidian I can stand on? Or something other than the ground?"

 

Katie forms an icy sheet below Ruby, "Does frozen water work?" Katie asks.

"Oh, that reminds me, couldn't you just wear something like obsidian boots?" I ask.

Stephanie gets up and walks over to Ihra, "Do you think I could have Fear the Anvil back? I kind of want to give Ruby the gift myself." She asks quietly.

 

"Sure... If you can get it out of the ground." She whispers.

"That's... Not a bad idea, but it's kind of fragile. Boots are the only thing I can safely wear..."

 

Katie melts the ice, forming a large, albeit thin, pool.

"I guess we could work on making you some boots then." I say, smiling.

Stephanie summons her crystal helmet, putting it on. She focuses, and the helmet starts glowing. Stephanie raises her hand, and Fear the Anvil is lifted from the ground, before floating to her hand. Stephanie de-summons the helmet and walks over to Ruby.

"Here, I made this for you." Stephanie says, handing Fear the Anvil to Ruby.

 

"Heh, I get the joke."
She picks it up, and it's obvious she's never picked up a melee weapon in her life.
"Oh this feels weird. This'll take some getting used to."

 

Stephanie smiles.

"Hey Stephanie, I was thinking we could use some alchemy to make some obsidian boots for Ruby." I say.

"I guess we could try. What were you going to combine?" Stephanie asks.

I run over to Stephanie's circle, summoning a pair of iron boots and a few obsidian bars, as well as some woven silk. I place them in the centre and place a few pieces of iron and obsidian around the trio.

"Ok, that should be good." I say, looking to Stephanie.

Stephanie walks back over to her circle, sitting by its edge. The circle, as well as the lines within, glow white again. Stephanie seems extremely focused.

 

"Why obsidian specifically?"

 

"I thought you could be protected with it. Also, it looks cool." I say happily.

 

"Anything but the ground would work. I... Uh..."

She looks embarrased.
"I don't know how to walk."

 

"I could teach you. It's quite simple, really; you just move one leg in front of the other." I say happily.

The bars of iron and obsidian start disappearing from Stephanie's circle.

 

"Yeah... Take my word on it, it's not going to end well if I try."

 

"I could always empower you. You'd have access to my knowledge of walking, and I could keep you from falling over. Kind of like training wheels on a bike." I say happily.

 

"I mean I physically can't. My body's adapted to being a vessel for the power I wield; I am the closest thing to a god that is still mortal. I took risks, I made the decisions myself. I appreciate the gesture, but it won't work."

 

"Oh...that's...disappointing..." I say, crestfallen.

"I got the boots!" Stephanie says happily, walking over with a pair of obsidian boots. Despite being made of obsidian, they look quite comfortable.

 

"They look nice... And I'm sorry, Aj. It's a sacrifice I had to make whilst preserved by the machine."

 

My sadness turns to anger, and I teleport away.

Stephanie helps Ruby put on the pair of obsidian boots. The interior seems to have the woven silk, making them incredibly comfortable to wear.

"I hope you like them; they took quite a bit to make!" Stephanie says happily, before walking back to her circle and sitting back down, pulling out her sketchbook and continuing her drawing.

Katie looks around for where I went; to no avail.

 

"Aj?"
Ruby's apprently able to stand, but she's as shaky as Ragnyon.

"I like them, really... They're comfortable. Nicer than my robe, I'll give you that. But..."

"Aj, you still haven't broken the link. I'm sorry, what did I say? Are you okay?"

 

Stephanie looks up from her drawing, "Hmm? Is there a problem? I hope I created them correctly." Stephanie asks, flipping back to her previous drawing to continue her work on it.

"?" There doesn't seem to be a response. Just...darkness? There seems to be anger, but no words are thought.

 

"No... but Aj seems angry with me."

"Aj, I didn't..."

 

"Hmm, that's odd. He's usually calm, I wonder what could have sparked him?" Stephanie contemplates, before continuing her drawing.

"?" The strange darkness seems to grow. Ruby finds it hard to think properly, darkness clouding her thoughts.
