Myria brings her scythe down...

Stopping, bare millimetres from Ruby's neck.

"If you hurt one of my daughters friends again, I won't be so reserved." Myria says in a stern tone.

Artemis hugs me.

 

"I never worried about you ending me. I knew you wouldn't, but I was hoping."
She levitates higher.
"I told you, I'd have to help from the sidelines."

Her horns dim.
"I suppose I can't be forgiven. Aj, do with me as you will. I suppose I need to be obedient if I am to help you free Xlentia."

 

I seem to space out for a moment.

Artemis keeps hugging me, and Myria walks over to me.

"Is everything alright now?" Myria asks.

"Yes, I think. Ihra helped a lot." I say.

Myria smiles at Ihra, "Thank you." She says.

"Kneeling to lesser beings, except for Aj... Ugh. Anything for mistress..." Ruby mutters, barely audible.

 

Myria glares at Ruby, "Be thankful for my mercy." She hisses.

Artemis keeps hugging me, "I was scared you'd died." She says worriedly.

"It's fine; you know I'm tougher than that." I say, trying to comfort Artemis.

 

"I am clearly not welcome. Do you want me on your side or not? I have yet to choose."

 

"Treat us with respect, and we'll do the same," Myria says, "Calling us derogatory terms under your breath is hardly respectful."

"You turn on us and...heh..." I trail off.

"I'd have to break a few promises." I say, my eyes glowing.

 

I tell my troops to stay still and silent. I call out into the darkness, "I know you're here. I want to speak with your leader." I silently hope for the troops I sent to arrive soon and get us out f this mess.

 

"The one which has been plaguing her for almost all her life, which is the one which possessed her?"
She stares at nothing in particular.
"I... I'm not sure. Why? What makes you think that's possible?"

 

"You're vulnerable in that form, especially if I lock you in it. Pardon me for being hunted longer than the time since your bloodline began, but it's hard to be kind with death threats running through all of your minds."

She shocks herself, claws melting on the ground a bit when contact is made.
"Please... I'm acting out of hand. How can I make it up to you?"

...They're not coming.

The fire draws closer.

"I... I don't know, but I feel like I saw it. I can see the spectral plane. It looked similar."

 

"I don't think locking me in my form would do much, especially when I have all the time in the world." I say.

"I think it's best you take some time to think about how you can make it up to Aj, Ruby." Myria says, clicking her fingers, causing Ruby to fall asleep.

 

She falls to the ground, starts melting, then wakes up screaming. She levitates again as fast as possible, holding her gut to avoid spilling her innards.
She coughs up blood, but Ihra catches her before she hits the ground again.
"We just spent so much energy saving her... Are we really just throwing it away this fast?"

 

"I'm not sure if I trust her anymore, actually." I say.

"She's almost killed Aj, and threatened to actually kill him. Forgive me if I'm not fully trusting, but while death may have removed my ability to discriminate, it hasn't made me as idiotic to trust everyone I meet." Myria says.

Artemis seems confused. Stephanie simply walks away from the situation.

 

Daras glares at Eras.
"What?"
"You've known all this time, haven't you?"
"It's not what you think it is. In a sense they are the same thing, but in a sense they aren't."
"More paradoxes?"
"It sort of fits her race. While they aren't directly linked to paradoxes, they are more than just 'linked' to time."
"And they can repair souls?"
"No, something else happened. I'm not sure what it was though."
"Does this make the girl a threat?"
"I'm not sure... but I don't think she is."
Daras sighs.
"I guess that's the best I'll be able to get from you..."

 

"We could at least send her back somewhere... alive... I dunno. Just... We went through that all to make Xlentia look like a liar?"

"Oh boy. Can I quit now?"

 

"Ye- OH COME ON!"
The girl isn't where she was just a few seconds ago.

 

"I'd rather secure the safety of my daughter and her friends above someone who wishes to kill them." Myria says.

"She can stay." I say.

Myria gives me a concerned look, "Are you sure you want to keep her around after what she did to you?" She asks, concerned and slightly confused.

"Yes. She can stay." I reiterate.

 

Ihra wraps a brace around Ruby's gut.
"Aj," Ruby whispers telepathically.
"I'm sorry... I don't know how to handle these situations, and I didn't want to die and I'll do anything..."
She blacks out.

"Shit. Can we pursue?"

 

I remain silent, contemplating her message.

"Myria, if you would, please heal Ruby. I trust she won't harm us." I say.

Myria sighs, "Very well, but might I suggest you choose your actions with her carefully? She doesn't seem the most stable-minded." Myria says, wrapping vines around Ruby's torso. Artemis helps too, wrapping her own vines around Ruby's wound.

"I shall." I say.

 

She starts breathing again. Then, still unmoving, she tears up.
