Has Mojang Gone Too Far?

The thing is, Mineplex has done literally nothing wrong, they've followed all the rules and stuff.
If the staff/community wasn't complete cancer, it would actually be a good server, but with all popular things, there is that cancerous part of the community... or... cancerous whole of the community.

 

Except for the fact that they've ripped off a large number of servers. It's not against the rules, no, but it's still a dick move.

 

The server was good, until they went down in game quality. They started removing all the fun games and putting in overused, unfun games *cough* skywars *cough*
Not to mention they take forever to make any progress. It took them 2 years just to get their Clans (which is their "factions") into beta, and it's still not a fun game.

 

So happy that this happened, now if only they could make backdate (I think it's called) it so the factions/p2w servers can't just ignore it (though to be fair, the whole p2w system on servers most likely would have caused said servers to implode)

 

If I knew how to apply green screens I would plaster FF all over a lets play.

They removed Gravity, which was the only thing ever I was good at.
It's in the rejected games in MPS, but that isn't the same.

It's about time they enforce the EULA.

Hopefully they port the blacklist to earlier versions so people can't use them as a workaround.

Also, I saw a rant by one of the GotPvP people about how German law says they can't change the EULA after purchase, and they bought MC in beta.
(The beta EULA banned monetization of any kind.)

 

What are Mojang's criteria for these bans? I'm worried that servers I regularly go on will get blacklisted, as on those servers, you can spend money to give global bonuses (Affecting everyone). There are other servers I go on that give minor, non-game breaking bonuses to donors (Shotbow, for instance). Will those servers, as well as Wynncraft, be affected?

 

I honestly just hate this "Pay to win" crap, But in Wynncraft all VIPs get are cosmetics and double xp bombs are for the entire server to enjoy, Not only for the whoever bought it himself.

Also, I'm glad Mojang finally began to strictly enforce this. Although it kinda ticks me off that it took so long, I can sort of see why. When they started to enforce this back in 2014 (or 2015 I can't remember jacksh*t) it caused one hell of an outrage, so I guess letting some time in between let it simmer down a bit. The long delay also gave servers a grace period to allow them to slowly change (or abruptly change) their donation perks to more cosmetic and server-wide things.

As for Mineplex, I couldn't give lesser fucks. So far as I'm concerned, they're following the EULA. Their community and gametypes have nothing to do with the fact that they are enforcing the EULA. Now, I strictly do not want to start a flame war, so I'll end it here. (Though I admit I haven't been on Mineplex in ages after my server list got wiped while I was messing around some files)

Now, I'm not sure how Pay2Win got so bad here in Minecraft, but I'm certainly glad Mojang is doing something about it. Pay2Win is unfair to normal players who either don't have money to donate, or are simply too young. However, from a certain point of view, it may look completely fine. After all, someone just gave you some money to helip out with maintaining a server that they like, the least you could do is at least give them something as a Thank You. This though, has gotten out of hand, and now we have things like 10k Dollars for /God and an unlimited damage sword. Overall, I think Pay2Win is unfair and completely messed up, but I can see why people are so willing to follow in its path.

1. Wynncraft is safe.
2. Shotbow is still donor perks.
3. Any perk breaks EULA, but cosmetics are fine.

 

Whoever came up with the idea to sell bonuses for everyone on the server is a genius.

 

The communities of the servers that did get blacklisted think that the blacklist wasn't justified and that Mojang should have given warning in advance.

1. EULA went into effect ages ago, they had plenty of time to think of ways to change their shops to make money WITHOUT violating the EULA.

2. The amount of incompetent idiots in these communities is just.. I can't even.

 

And then they try to AVOID eula by playing on 1.9.2, and try to say Mojang is evil because they blocked p2w

 

I just got banned from a server for telling them that they deserved to be blacklisted, because the willingly ignored the EULA & are now just "hiding" their pay2win :p
