Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Same."
"The last thing I remember is sitting on a bluff with him. We intended to marry within the week and the reception was in a few days. Of course, the Hunters changed that."
"That's the extent of my memory as well."

"This has nothing to do with Artemis."

He stirs.
"Ugh... five more minutes..."
He half-opens one eye and hugs Artemis back with his wings.

 

"Seems to be a lot of mention of these hunters with you amnesiacs. Do you think Aj looks like a hunter?" Abigail asks, pointing at me.

"I don't think we need to attempt to trigger their PTSD, Abigail." Stephanie says, glaring at Abigail.


"Really? Pretty sure my word was to act nice so you don't tell Artemis I'm partly responsible for killing her parents." I respond.


Artemis seems to cheer up quite a bit, "Heh, alright." Artemis says, lying next to Sgavrinn and closing her eyes.

 

"He's black and bigger than us. And he has a weapon."
"He probably helped with the corpse decor around here as well."

"That too, but that was only motivation. The true point of doing so doesn't involve Artemis."

More than five minutes pass.
A lot more.
(These two are asleep for the rest of the conversation)

 

"Yeah...don't mind the charred ones. Those were sorta me..." Abigail confesses.

"Do you remember what the hunters looked like?" Stephanie asks.


"Please tell me your reasoning behind it then," I say, "Is it so I don't do this?"

For Virei'tus, everything goes black. The sky is dotted with red eyes, their black pupils staring down the land. Dark hands erupt from the ground, tearing the draconians, Ihra, Stephanie...pretty much everyone apart in equally torturous and gruesome ways. The trees, rocks and other objects around bear the same red eyes as the sky, and sharp teeth can be seen on them too; they seem to move around like they're living, adding to the carnage by eating what remains of the corpses. The ominous sound of heartbeat is all can be heard.

The only people unaffected by the hands or darkness are Artemis and Sgavrinn; who remain asleep in the only patch of sunlight left, blissfully unaware.

The vision ends, everything returning to normal.

"Or is it for some other reason?" I ask.

 

"The Hunters were huge. Nobody got a look at their full body and survived, but we presume they're like us. We have no idea, though."

"Yes, mostly."

 

"It's probably not a good idea we have two people who are giants, then." Stephanie says, gesturing to me and Katie's icy representation.

"I kind of want to see Aj battle one of these hunters. It might present a challenge to him." Abigail says.


"I think you're a little late." I say.

Virei'tus has another vision; this time a memory. It shows the events of the previous vision actually happening, on a smaller scale, where I'm fighting the fragments of decay.

"It's already happened once, though of course it wasn't as bad. I can promise you I won't be going to such extremes over pitiful armies like the ones we just faced, however." I say.

 

"Compared to the majority of magical items, most of which are made cheaply, that's better than usual.

You notice a faint, lime green line heading towards... it looks like towards your current location, but at a closer glance it seems to be coming near, but not directly to the group.

"That didn't go as planned... they're stronger than we thought I guess."

 

"I can't stand cheap magical items. I make sure everything I produce is high quality, with the right amount of magic instilled in them." Stephanie says, cringing at the thought of cheap magical items.


I decide to head to the location of the lime green line; curious.

 

"It's fine. We owe you our lives... If we can make it up to you somehow..."
"...but we have nothing."
"We'll think of something, Ren. I hope..."

"That was justified. They attacked."

"No kidding. I jumped the gun... Got lucky this time."
He grunts.

 

"Hey, Stephanie and I didn't really have much of a part in this other than making this place safe. It's Thirteen you want to be thanking here; he's the one that did the 'Saving'." Abigail says happily.

"If you really wanted to reward us as a group, there's no need for it. As you said, you don't have anything, and we're not greedy. You shouldn't perform acts of good and expect a reward; or perform such acts with the intention of gaining a reward from it." Stephanie says, smiling.


"I think you need to put a little more trust in me. I'm not going to corrupt this world and kill its inhabitants. That's your sisters job, anyway." I respond.

 

"Same. Well, I myself make potions, but both Idala and Daras have made some good magical items... take Aura for example. She was just a stone statue of a Wind Dragon. Now she is a completely normal Wind Dragon."

OOC: The green line is coming from the sky. I'm guessing you mean where the green line is heading?

The line looks like some sort of beam of energy.

"Sorry... should have known something like this would happen."

 

"I too practise the arts of alchemy; in both iterations. I've made quite a few magical items through a certain practise of alchemy, and I have many potions and poisons at my disposal to help friends and harm enemies." Stephanie explains happily.

A red, heart shaped phial appears in her hands. Unlike the gruesomely realistic ones Artemis and I ate, the heart is a more cartoon like one; one that would be represented for love. The heart appears to be red, but upon closer inspection it's actually made of glass, and a red liquid resides within.


OOC: Yeah, I messed up describing.

I try to trace the origin of the line; looking for a potential caster.

 

"Thanks..."
"Might you know where we can go? We don't..."
"We don't bring anything to your group. Do you know of a place we could stay?"

"I find that offensive. I'll trust you a bit more, but don't blame it on my sister."

"You did your job. It's on me."

 

"I'm not sure, actually." Stephanie says.

"Maybe Virei'tus knows of a place they can stay? He is a god and all." Abigail asks.

Stephanie looks around for Virei'tus.


"Just stating a fact. Besides, I'm working to purify your sister; make the void great again." I reply.

"Virei'tus is here?"

He uncloaks.
"Yes. I'll help you and Reed find a place to stay."
"Thank you."

"Yeah, yeah. I know."

 

Stephanie smiles at Virei'tus, "Thanks, Virei'tus. I was concerned for where they might stay." Stephanie says, appreciative of Virei'tus' help.


"I'll get over this wall Xlentia's constructed, you'll see. I know she's in there somewhere." I respond confidently.

 

"A love potion? I haven't tried making one of those for a while. Since last time, I decided I wouldn't try to use them again."

It doesn't seem to have a caster. The line seems to go on... forever? It doesn't have a visible beginning.

"Very well. I think I'll go back to the library for a while."
Arnold makes his way towards where he thinks the library will be.

 

"However you did it, thank you for freeing us."
"Wait... I can help."
"Reed?"
"I don't know..."
"I can... I... I'm not useful during the day. Please, let me stick around when the moon's out?"
Virei'tus moans.
"Up to them."

You see Helianthus' totem sitting outside it.

Straight down the entrance, there's a draconian looking at you, seemingly waiting for you.

 

"Haha, this is a healing potion," Stephanie says, summoning a similar looking phial in her other hand; the liquid inside this one is pink, "I...I've rarely used these love potions. It feels dishonest to force someone to love you or another; I believe love should be initiated by two people who share feelings, rather than one with a lust for another."

"Nathan once tried to pull a love potion on me. I don't regret scarring his face..." Abigail says, slightly angered by the memory.

"After you finished smooching him?" Stephanie says with a smirk.

"If you want to know the full story, instead of just drawing assumptions and trying to sound witty, hand me one of your white crystals." Abigail says, oddly calm.

Stephanie hands Abigail a white crystal, which she puts to her head. It glows rather brightly, and continues to glow faintly after Abigail takes it away, handing it back to Stephanie.

Stephanie closes her hand around the crystal and focuses, closing her eyes. The crystal floats from her hand and starts to spin around her head. A short moment later, the crystal returns to Stephanie's hand. When Stephanie opens her eyes, she seems quite traumatised.

"O-Oh my god Abigail. I-I had no idea h-he did th-that to you," Stephanie says, shocked, shaking slightly, "S-Sorry about what I said."

"It's fine, apology accepted. At least I have the satisfaction of scarring him pretty badly; last time I checked there were still marks." Abigail says.

"You can stick around if you want. You should enjoy your free will, since you've been stripped of it for whoever knows how long." Abigail says happily.

 

"Thanks. I'll show you our power!"

"Hey, Reed, is that mark-"
"Let's not discuss it. You have the same one, I see. Some traditions must have been kept over time."
"Though, I hope you have transportation for two... I'm tired. I'm nocturnal."
"Heh... I figured."
