"H-huh? Th-h-hank you... Thank you so much..."
He calms down a bit, but is still trembling.

 

"Where did you come from?" Artemis asks calmly.

"Might I ask your name?" Ice Katie also asks.

 

"I can't remember... They destroyed everything! My name is Reed... That's all I know."

 

"Who destroyed everything?" Artemis asks, confused.

"It's nice to meet you, Reed." Ice Katie says.

 

"Yes, have some more rest. You'll need it after seeing all those annoying beings."
Arnold looks for Entropy.

"She'll be fine. Idala's had worse thanks to the reflection. It just shocked her so much that she fainted even with the reflection controlling her."

 

"I'm glad she's so strong willed. Totems like that have known to completely destroy someone's sanity, leaving them in a state of no return." Stephanie says.

 

"It's rare to see items that powerful. Or maybe it isn't, having seen quite a few made by those around me."
You can see something odd in the sky... but it's too far away to tell what it could be.

 

"It's not really that powerful, all things considered. By sheer force of numbers do they gain power, due to having increased potency." Stephanie says.

I squint at the strange thing in the sky, my eyes glowing to support my vision.

 

"I don't know, but he took my family, my home..."
He breaks down again.

Entropy is just standing there.

 

Artemis puts her hand on Reed's shoulder, increasing strength of the calming aura.

"It's alright, you're in safe hands now." Artemis says calmly.

 

"You're not them? Who are you, if you don't mind me asking?"

 

"My name's Artemis. The large ice figure holding us is a representation of Katie, who's controlling it from within. The large Shadow who picked you up is my boyfriend, Aj. The girl hovering next to him is Abigail, and the sorceress on the ground is Stephanie." Artemis says, pointing to each person as she says their name.

"Who is this 'them'? Are they the ones who hurt you?" Ice Katie asks.

 

"Yes, Aj looked like the one that tore my son's limbs from his body in front of me... Oh, I... I have nothing..."

 

"I thought Shadows weren't native to this world, that's rather odd." Artemis says, rather puzzled.

"That sounds horrible!" Ice Katie says sympathetically.

"So how did you end up fighting like the rest of the draconians?" Artemis asks.

 

"What? I just... I was fighting?"

 

"Sure seemed like it." I say.

"Were you under some kind of mind control?" Ice Katie asks, curious.

"Don't you remember what happened?" Artemis asks, confused.

 

"I was fighting? I don't even know how to use a weapon!"

 

"You were with a mass of other draconians, most of which were sliced, stomped, corrupted, burned, poisoned, frozen...generally killed." I say.

"Where did you live? With your family, I mean." Artemis asks.

Abigail flies down to Ihra, having been listening to the conversation.

"Hey, do you know anyone called Reed?" Abigail asks.

 

"I lived in Vyraxis. Where am I now?"
He cringes.

"I...don't know." Artemis says, looking to me. I shrug.

"We have places called the Darklands and Brisingr, if you've heard of those places." I say.


"Alright. He seems to be a straggler from the battle, he has no idea where he is or what happened; says he doesn't even know how to fight. Know anything about that?" Abigail asks.
