My Pokemon Gold Struggles.

So, err, I've been doing my 2nd playthrough of pokemon gold lately, and I've reached the elite 4, and I'm rather screwed.
My team is insanely underleveled, varying from lvl 30-35, whilst all elite 4 members got lvl 40+.
Not only that, I can't get past the 1st elite four member, since my team isn't adapted to fighting psychic types.

My team:
Piloswine lvl 35
Take down, powder snow, earthquacke, icy wind
Crobat lvl 35
Wing attack, fly, confuse ray, bite
Slowpoke lvl 34
Confusion, surf, headbutt, dig
Haunter lvl 30 (I got no way to trade it, so it ain't gonna evolve)
Shadow ball, night shade, curse, mean look
Meganium lvl 35
Razor leaf, solarbeam, cut, flash
Pinsir lvl 30
Fury cutter, strenght, seismic toss, rock smash

So yeah, Idk if you pokemon pros out there know if it's actually possible to beat the elite 4 with this team without having to spend ages of my time grinding to get them to a decent level.

Please give me advice on what to do here.

 

Grind. That's all I can advise you to do.

 

Yay! If only the rematch system wasn't terrible in gen 2.

 

How does it work again? I haven't played Gold in like 10 years. ._.

 

After you battled a trainer, some, but not all, will give you their phone number when you talk to them again, then they will call you randomly, and if you're too late, they don't rematch you. Atleast, from my findings. Whatever the case, It's a real pain in the ass.

 

I play Heartgold (I really dont see much difference other than graphics) and I got a level 100 Typhlosion.
i've beaten the Champion 3-4 times with just the typhlosion. Even Gyarados is annoying, but I beat him.


I also don't see why Red is so hard. Level 100s 1 hit his pokemon.

 

Well, in gen 2, there is this level curve after the 5th gym, the gym leaders will have pokemons about 10 levels higher than you, and it's hard to catch up to that without excessive grinding, whic basically makes your team 10 levels lower than the elite 4, unless you grind in the painful way of rematching trainers or battling wild pokemon.

 

Is it possible to glitch into Mt Silver?

 

I have no idea, but even if, I wouldn't do it.
Cheating is not my style.

 

I farmed at Victory Road until I unlocked Mt Silver.

By then, though, my Typhlosion was already level 86.

 

Isn't in incredibly boring to use only your starter and grind it to insanely high levels?

 

Nope. My Cyndiquill was already around level 25 at the first gym. It's always been a higher level than the gym leaders.

The only problem is FlashFire pokemon, as my typhlosion only knows one non-firetype damaging move.

 

How? There are like, max level 6 pokemon before the 1st gym, and the trainers aren't much better either..

There is like, one before the 1st gym, rare candies are, well, rare.
Or did you just dupe them..

 

I didn't dupe them. I never hacked my games.


Then there was this thing where you have to beat a Tower before you can do the first gym and then that gave me a lot of levels figuring it out.

When I said "Rare Candies" I meant that whenever I got a rare candy i don't use it on anything but Typhlosion.

but in the Gold remake, Heartgold, they give a crap ton of exp.

 

Even if, getting to over level 20 before the 1st gym must take a long ass time, I prefer playing through pokemon games by getting a varied team and levelling them as equally as I can.

 

that was a problem at one point; I had only just got to Elite 4 when I put my Typhlosion in the day care for a day. The next day, I forgot he was at the Daycare. So I thought my little brother had deleted him (because he had been playing my Heartgold earlier) and he was my only pokemon who even stood a chance against the Elite Four.
