"Apology accepted...I'm glad Aj didn't hurt you; it's probably for the best that you stayed how you were, he might have attacked you in an act of my defence if you'd moved." Artemis says, glancing toward me and smiling.

 

"Well, you aren't exactly going anywhere, are you? But still..."
The orb clears. You can't see Arnold anywhere.

 

I smile.
"I happen to know a lot about how minds work. But I was very ashamed of myself."

 

"It's alright...you weren't in control of yourself, so you're not to blame." Artemis says, smiling.

 

I smile, looking at Crelucium.
"What do you think he's thinking about? Other than just trying to remember things."

 

"Probably his new life," Artemis says, watching Crelucium walk towards the horizon, "He seems to have been stripped of a majority of his powers, at least in his current state. Maybe he'll start anew, find somewhere to settle down and become a new person."

 

"Or try to, at least."
I comment.
"Not exactly the easiest thing to do when you're a gray-humanoid-blob of fleshy substance."
Pause.
"Which is I guess what humans are, apart from the gray and the glowing eyes."

 

"I think if people can accept black figures of darkness with red glowing eyes, I'm sure they can accept grey-fleshed figures." Artemis says.

"Despite his once evil nature...I wish the best for him." Artemis adds.

 

"Me too. Although, it might have been the paradox in him making him evil. If he's been stripped of his powers, maybe he's been stripped of that too. Like an entity that was created after a magical entity, but because of the way it was created, it is not magic."

 

"It's a possibility, but he's a mix of a Light and Shadow creature. light tend to be more benevolent while shadow hostile. Maybe his worse side got erased, or suppressed," Artemis says, "Maybe the mundane effects of the Blank tamed those sides of him down, making him, well, normal."

 

"Or whatever you want to call normal. Not one of my favorite words, personally."

 

"It's a simple term to understand," Artemis says, "I really meant he has regular emotions."

 

"Fair enough."

 

It doesn't matter. The wisp starts following Arnold.
"You're right, I'm still standing guard."

"Well...I could always get something for us to watch. A movie or something; I'd need to go back up to the surface though." Katie says, the dim blue light of the cave blending with her hair.

 

"I could see who's using a blank as a body."
"What?"
"I can... nevermind. Maybe we should surface for a bit? They might overcommit if they see us and make a mistake."

 

"Are you sure that's a good idea? Virei'tus told me to take you two down here for protection. I don't want you to get hurt." Katie says, concerned.

 

"I can put a barrier between us and them. We'll be fine."
"No, I'm not sure of anything, but I'm pretty sure we would've noticed any combat by now."

 

"I guess I could scout out the surface...make sure everything is safe." Katie suggests, an ice hand passing Katie her trident.

 

"Sure. That works."
"Go with 'mostly safe.' I don't know if completely safe is a thing at this point in my life..."
