"Thirteen, stop!" Artemis cries, shaking in fear.

"FORCE FEED HER THE GREY GOO! NOW!"

 

"Ihra is also a fragment of my soul, but she's too young to perform group ascension. Also she wasn't there; I can't absorb her once I'm awoken."


Virei'tus smites the remnants of the goo.

I get zapped, and collapse in the process.

 

"...And that's what I get for lying dormant for a million or so years... I'll have to find a way to make it up to him."

 

"Isn't she supposed to become your sister?" I ask.

I turn to see what Virei'tus is smiting, before seeing what's happening between Thirteen and Artemis.

Artemis cries, petrified.

I shrink back to normal size and run over to Artemis, "Artemis, what happened?" I ask, helping her up.

"Th-Thirteen went cr-crazy and tr-tr-tried t-t-t-" Artemis ends up crying more.

I hug Artemis, "It's ok, I'm here, he can't hurt you." I say calmly.

Artemis keeps crying, shaking in my arms.

 

"I... That's awkward. I suppose that's what is supposed to happen."

 

I seem to get zapped again, somehow.

I suddenly stand up, exclaiming,
"WHAT THE HELL JUST-"
I stop, seeing Artemis crying.
I sit down, putting my head in my hands.

 

I seem to be too busy with Artemis to respond.

"He w-was c-crazy!" Artemis manages to say through her tears.

"It's alright, I won't let him touch you." I say, continuing to hug Artemis. Artemis cries over my shoulder.

Artemis lets out a short scream when she sees you get up, hugging me tighter.

Shadow Katana floats in the air between you and Artemis and I; an aura of darkness surrounding it.

"D-Don't let h-him n-near!" Artemis says through tears, hugging me even tighter.

"It's ok, he won't get close." I say, gently patting Artemis' back as I hug her.

 

"Is it just me, or are these sort of things customary to the group."

 

"Glad I'm not alone..." Virei'tus mutters.

"It'll be okay. The goo was posessing him."

 

"Possessing is not the word."
I say, putting my finger up but still in fetal position.
"Outstanding strongly influenced is more like the phrase you're looking for."

 

"I'm... going to call it close enough for our purposes."

 

"Anyways, Vir, what are you doing here? Don't you have like, deity things that you need to do?"

 

"Yeah, I do. I get you want me to leave to leave the others open to be attacked, but I do have so-called 'deity things' I need to do. Like, guarding my world's only hope. Oh wait, I am. Let's see, what else is there... Proving my status to other gods? Currently unnecessary. Finding who did this to my sister? Still working on that. Snapping my sister out from her corruption? Also a work in progress. I'm sure I can think of other things... maybe get a following in this world or at least build tolerance to my presence."

 

"Very well. Anyways, is your sister naturally a gigantic dragon? Or is that just a transformation."

 

"She's naturally that size. Do you have a problem with that? If you do, I don't doubt she'd leave you behind if a city you were in needed evac. She's not evil, but something... someone... They've got her in their claw and I can't stand to see her suffer that much, but what can I do? They're after me too."

 

"Ah, no. It's just that I find it odd how you're not a gigantic dragon and she is."

 

"Two sides of the same coin. What she lacks in evasion and precision, I have. What I lack in size, resilience, and recovery, she has. Together, we're pretty much the embodiment of our species, all in two. I distract, she destroys. She walls, I pinprick the weak point."

 

"Huh. Shame the both of you are theoretically against each other now."

 

"Turns our cooperation into a stalemate; she can't hit me and I can't hit her hard enough for it to matter. I still miss her. Again, the few spare minutes we had over the years? There wasn't a lot to do, but she'd show me around her palace and be proud of every single trophy she's collected over the years. I'd show her the places that I used to watch over, and she'd revel in the peace and prosperity within. Those were good times..."
Virei'tus is sitting on the ground, reminiscing in his past.
"Sorry to get soft with you. I'm sure you've got memories like those as well."
