Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

The grass seems unaffected by the potion; the potion's colours getting disturbed by the grass.

"You don't sound fine. Is this to do with the Xlentia thing?" Stephanie asks, still concerned, sitting down next to Ihra.

 

She sighs.
"Yeah, it kind of is."
Ihra swirls the piece of grass around a bit in the potionz

 

I look behind me.

 

"Tell me what's on your mind." Stephanie says calmly.

The blank stands extremely close to you. It opens its mouth, looking like it's about to say something, before the glow from its eyes disappears. It melts into a grey, goo like substance at your feet.

 

My jaw drops a bit in wonder.
I look at Artemis, then to the goo, then to Artemis.

 

Artemis smiles innocently.

"What's the problem?" Artemis asks sweetly.

 

I put my finger in the goo, and take it out, feeling it.
"Do they usually... speak? Like, on their own?"
I ask Artemis.

 

"They're mindless beings. They don't feel pain, and they can't move on their own. If they could speak then it would most likely be an external force controlling it, but I had control over it; and I didn't make it speak. You were probably just hearing things." Artemis says.

The goo feels warm and squishy; almost like flesh.

 

"It's just that I feel like I've been living a lie. Mother said everything would be alright and I'd have a happy ending. I don't know what to believe, I just keep going along with her will because I have no other plans."

 

"Not hearing, seeing. Unless you made it open its mouth. If you didn't I'm kind of creeped out right now."

 

"You don't have to follow your mothers will, you know," Stephanie says, "Maybe your mother was wrong. Maybe being Xlentia is what she wanted you to do. Be your own person, Ihra, follow your own path; not the path the signs lead you on."

"If you don't want to follow her will, don't follow it. Screw the system, get angry and barge off the path into the woods of the unknown!" Stephanie says, trying to boost Ihra's morale.

"You're probably just seeing things, then. That, or it was a slip up on my end." Artemis says.

"ThIrTeEn."

 

"If it's what she wanted, I feel I should give back. She's done so much for me that I wanted to do something for her, but... but... Ugh. Half of me wants to just forget about it, but the other half wants to make good of the promise I made her."

 

"You can give back in different ways, Ihra," Stephanie says, "What was the promise you made her?"

 

"I promised her I'd make it up to her for saving my life more times than I can remember by... well... honoring her will and last words."

 

"Alright."

"Yeah?"
I turn around, asking quietly so Artemis cannot hear.

 

"Could you tell me the short of her will, and her last words?" Stephanie asks kindly.

"EaT tHe GrEy GoO tHiRtEeN. cOnSuMe It AlL!"

 

"Sorry to burst your bubble, but I can't actually eat anything. I'm actually physically unable to."

 

"Her will stated to gain 100 charges, and when I did, a time would come for me to become so powerful that I could sleep without fear of death. I didn't hear her last words, though. Those were to Aj..."

 

"But he only knows about draconians and their abilities, strengths and weaknesses?"

 

"I think I know where you're going with this. You're correct, but it also applies to dragons."
