Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

A white robe white scaled draconian stands in the middle of a pile of corpses. Their four white wings glow in the darkness.
"Another one?" They mutter.

"That's what I had done."

"I'll try, I guess."

 

OOC: It is 5:40 in the morning
"Very well. I've almost fully traced where they are."

 

"Perfect. We'll let Arnold get back, then go."

 

Artemis seems a bit unnerved by my offensive stance, readying her bow and nocking an arrow.

"I think they're coming." I say, Shadow Katana held ready. It looms over the party dauntingly.


Katie draws some water from the pool and freezes it into a checkered board, before taking more and freezing them into chess pieces. An icy table and pair of chairs form over the chess board, and Katie sits down.

"You can have the first move." Katie says, smiling at Ragnyon and signalling for her to sit.

OOC: Almost 11pm for me .-.

A wisp of light sits in front of you.

"What game is this?"

 

I raise a hand, and the wisp is corrupt into darkness almost instantly; a dark aura surrounding it.


"It's called chess. Haven't you played it before?" Katie asks, rather confused.

 

It backfires. You feel the full unmitigated force in the form of feedback energy.
"Now, now. I can't catch a break, can I?" A voice echoes from it.

Its light is unwaivering, visible through every bit of darkness you throw at it.

"Never heard of it, sorry."

 

"Hmph, time to void this magic." I say, slicing the wisp in half with Shadow Katana.


"Oh, well you need to move the chess pieces to take out your opponent's 'King'" Katie says.

Katie plays a match against herself, showing Ragnyon the moves each piece can make and how chess can be won.

 

The wisp teleports the moment Shadow Katana would come into contact.
"Am I just here to entertain you now?"

"I see... I think. Alright, I'll try."

 

I start slashing at the wisp incredibly fast, slicing at areas it might teleport to. My movements are so fast, it looks like there are multiple Shadow Katanas.


"You can go first." Katie says happily.

 

The wisp seems to avoid all of them.
"Redemption isn't your thing, is it?" It says in a familiar voice.

She moves a pawn up.
OOC: Not emulating a game of chess. Just not.

 

I pause my attacks for a moment.

"Speak your name." I say with a serious tone.


OOC: How about:

Katie chooses her chess movements carefully, trying to confuse Ragnyon with seemingly redudant moves.

 

"You'll know in time."

This confuses her, and she starts making the same two moves over and over again.

 

"Well, You'll know in time, what's stopping me from killing you right now?" I ask, pointing Shadow Katana at the wisp.


Katie takes a few offensive manuevers, trying to take out some of Ragnyon's more powerful pieces.

 

"Your impatience. Note how your girlfriend hasn't fired. You've swung everywhere like a madman. Maybe you are one, I haven't decided yet."

It kind of works; she loses a knight, a bishop, and a rook for Ragnyon's queen.

Ragnyon then takes a pawn with one of her knights.
"That's check, right?"
(It is)

 

"Because I'm not nearly fast enough to hit you." Artemis says. An arrow seems to have been already fired, and sails toward the wisp.


"It is." Katie says, thinking hard about her mext moves.

Katie moves her king behind the safety of a bishop.

 

"You don't need to be fast."
The arrow disintegrates as it hits.
"You need to be precise."

Ragnyon goes back to trying to trap Katie's queen

 

Artemis fires another arrow, aimed straight for the centre of the wisp. Artemis' eyes can be seen glowing green through her wooden mask.

I surround the wisp in darkness, which seems to slow its movement considerably.


Katie switches to more defesive tactics, trying to take out offending pieces and protecting her royalty.

 

"This is the kind of hostility I'm talking about" echoes a flower.

 

The darkness does nothing. The wisp just floats to the side of the arrow.

"Surrender to me now and I might tell you my name."

Hard to do that with the few pawns she has left.
