Item Name Meanings

I find the names of a lot of items to be interesting. Some of them are blatantly obvious, like The Traveler (walk speed bow) or Leggings of Restoration (health regen leggings), but there are a lot of item names that are obscure words, words in different languages, or references to something that not a lot of people look at.

For example,

- Montefiore, a health regen chestplate, is most likely named after the Montefiore Medical Center hospital.
- Ehwaz, a walk speed ring, is most likely named after a rune called Ehwaz that means momentum and speed (I didn't really understand this one but this is the website if you want to look at it)
- Sunsetter (water wand) and Moonsetter (fire wand) are references to the Homestuck songs Sunsetter and Moonsetter. Planet Healer (ring) is also a reference to the Homestuck song Planet Healer.
- Hellkite's Wing (fire wand) and Hellkite's Beak (fire bow) are references to Dark Souls (I know nothing about this game I just googled it)
- Talaria (walk speed boots) are the winged sandals that the Greek god Hermes wore that allowed him to fly.

I'm sure I could go around and find out the meaning of every item in the item guide and wiki, but that's not the point of this thread. I like interactive threads. What are some other interesting item meanings that you people know of? OuO Come on it takes two seconds to google the name of your main weapon or chestplate. Google is your friend.

It's a level 80 something unique dagger.

 

The legendary bow maelstrom which is a water and walk speed bow is from the word maelstrom which is sort of like a whirlpool.

 

Ooh! Ooh! There is a spear called Undying, referring to Undyne/Undyne the Undying.

I just found out sans his text in undertale is in comic sans, and papyrus his text is in papyrus lel. But bc it is pixelated it looks almost pretty.
Thats the same thing to say someone looks good in a broken mirror :p

Actually, according to Selvut, the Papyrus chestplate is not a reference to everyone's favorite skeleton, but rather, its a reference to some sort of scroll

He made the chestplate before Undertale was a thing.
