Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Stephanie suddenly hugs Artemis.

"I-I was mourning at a tombstone," She says, holding back tears, "The only other people there were Aj and Abigail."

Artemis tries her best to console Stephanie. I simply stand there, mildly confused.

 

"Aj, I cannot show you the vision, but I can tell you...
She was mourning a tombstone. Only you and Abigail were with her, mourning as well."

 

"That isn't good." I say, shaking my head.

"I'm doubtful it's Shadow Stephanie, due to...well, she's powerful enough to survive. It may be Artemis, as I hold a great deal of care for her, but the more likely scenario is..." I pause, looking towards Katie's pool.

"Katie." I finish, rather crestfallen.

"How many timelines can you see into?" Artemis asks, still hugging Stephanie.

 

"I don't know. I'm sorry..."
She looks at you like she's already failed you and is about to be chained up again.

 

"It's fine...I mean, maybe we can change fate..." I say, although saddened.

"She's alive now, though. Even if we can't change fate, we should at least make the most of the time we have with her." I add.

Stephanie starts crying.

 

"Maybe it's best I leave... So much for good first impressions..."

 

"And where will you go?" I ask.

I hold my hand in front of me, and a blue, ticking pocket watch appears in it.

"If Katie's death comes here, then it can be changed. Only recently did my future self come back in time, causing everything that's happened right now. I've sworn not to use this device anymore; but...if needed, I might have to," I say, "In the timeline my future self came from, I can only assume Katie was alive. If time travel has changed her fate once, it can do it again."

Artemis seems to preoccupied with Stephanie to ask Ragnyon to stay.

 

"I suppose you're right. Thank you..."
It's obvious she knows she has nowhere else to go.

 

"I care very deeply about friends and those close to me, not excluding you, Ragnyon. While I may not show it all the time, I don't think I could stand seeing one of my friends come to harm." I say honestly.

"There there, Stephanie. It'll be alright." Artemis says, consoling Stephanie.

"And I'll do what I can to prevent that from ever happening." I add.

 

"I understand. It's just, I hate being reliant on people when I can't contribute anything except the occasional bad vision... You have my deepest apologies."

 

"Maybe you can't supply better visions of the future until you come to terms with your bad past," I say, "Psychic powers are reliant on the state of mind of their user; if you feel as if your life has been, and will continue to be, terrible, your visions will be heavily affected."

I look over to Artemis, still consoling Stephanie, "Artemis might be able to help you come to peace with your past."

 

"I can't control it. It's not connected to my mood. I showed you your vision while in the same mental state I am now."

 

"Were you ever able to give out good, more positive visions?" I ask.

 

"Yes, but they come at random."

 

"Hmm, interesting," I say, thinking, "Did you ever receive training from other prophets?"

 

"No. We seek our own path, and since we are born of the same blood, only one lives at a time."

 

"That's very interesting," I say, "So you were self-taught?"

 

"Yes. There's no record of any prophet controlling the visions, but there's nothing barring me from learning... Hold my condition."

 

"It's a shame Artemis doesn't have control over her visions of the future either," I say, "Though we'll try our best to help. Besides, I'm sure you can do more than simply tell futures."

 

"Heh... I hope. Thanks."
She tries to smile.
