Teamspeak Vs Discord Poll

Personally, I use skype.

 

I've used both before, and I preferred Discord to Teamspeak.
I've been trying to make the switch to Discord for a while now, but a lot of the online chat groups I'm a part of (guild chat, RP chat, etc.) were all on Skype.
Considering how Discord can work just like Skype, and has the voice-chat capabilities of Teamspeak, I support going with Discord in the future.

 

For you who don't know:
-Discord has a really neat layout. Picture of the /r/homestuck one:

Note that this is with the default layout. I have my own custom one that I prefer, seen here. Now with the unofficial wynncraft one! Note that this requires outside applications to be able to be used.

-You can get custom colors! Probably only using it for ranks here, but as shown on the /r/homestuck pic, nearly everyone has their own color. It's really cool. That means that the content team can get the exact color of teal/aqua/cyan.

-The only time it'll go down is if the whole of discord goes down. Trust me, it happens basically never.

So yeah, I'm 100% for discord.

if so, they can create moderators for ts/discord (none wynn moderator) a mod for discord/ts only?

From what I can tell, Discord is essentially TS with a few advantages, including no cost (I understand it's $20 a year, but still), so I'd have to side with discord.

Well it's unofficial soooooooo yeah. Though there's a thread somewhere, so look that up!

 

Here are the main problems I have:

1. Having to download teamspeak isnt a big deal especially since its as popular as skype and it is so common that you should already have it.

2. I dont get what you mean by "voice spam" especially since most people go into private rooms or have their sound muted. If anything, discord has a worse spam with 2 different message notification.

3. To me, the mics are worse in discord

4. There seems to be a ton of people voting that dont even use voice chat

5. There seems to not be any private rooms in discord so....

It's a program that you download. From there you can enter Ts servers by using an IP.

I am slightly worried that the vote here does not best represent the views of those this decision will affect...

I have seen already a few people who have voted for Discord despite hardly (if at all) ever using TeamSpeak or any other method of voice communication. An individual or two also in this thread has seemed to have no experience whatsoever with either program for voice communication, but picked Discord simply because it was stated that it has "advantages".

Honestly, I do not mind which one wins in the end, because I have used both and can handle using both in the future; however, I agree hugely with the point that Abandonedbank made on the first page. Since we already have a well established Teamspeak in order, with all of our ranks and privileges (to whom that may apply), as well as easy access to other huge server communities on Teamspeak, I think it only makes sense to save ourselves the hassle of having to switch to a new program and learn all of the new stuff it has to offer.

If you are seasoned Teamspeak users like I am, you will know that Teamspeak has essentially all that one would really need. It has ranks, different servers, easy controls and keybinds, good lobby and channel structure, ability to share links and type, as well as fantastic voice transmission quality.

My vote will have to be for keeping Teamspeak, and I believe those who have not used either or rarely use either must refrain from making choices that will affect those who do in fact already use Teamspeak.

 

I used teamspeak a ton before and I feel like discord is just... Better. This doesn't speak for the rest of the voters, but still.

Plus, I left the teamspeak after a couple of mods and a bunch of other players accused me of hacking. Maybe discord can be a new start.
