    Hi everyone!

    Right now, we have a Teamspeak server where everyone can gather and chat. There's some discussion among the staff to move to something called Discord, which does basically the same thing as Teamspeak but with a few advantages.

    1. Downloads are optional: Any member can join and use voice chat with Wynncraft users without having to download anything. That means its easier for everyone to chat and enjoy.
    2. Better Chat (Bots!): Discord has a pretty good API, so we'll be able to write bots that can interact with your game (like showing player stats or locations of players).
    3. Better Audio Quality: Everyone should sound better with less annoying "this user has joined the channel" spam.


    We understand everyone is used to Teamspeak, and we're definitely still ambivalent about the choice. Please help us decide by voting in the poll above and discussing below.

    Discord personally wouldn't be used in my case for voice chat, but it's greater all around than the alternatives

    We don't want to split the voice community - it's already pretty small. If we have both, that means we need to moderate both even though they'll be pretty empty. We want to keep everyone together.

    Money isn't a huge factor for this - Discord is free and Teamspeak only costs us like $20 a year.

    I hate to correct, but from what I understand you dont ~have~ to make an account, when you get an instant invite you can just choose a username and go with it. But someone else can take that username, sorry for correcting you and sounding like a douche.

    ALSO:
    Discord has a very active development, so many features will be added, they already have a few more things such as a in game overlay and are planning sub channels and even screen sharing with private calls and friends lists.
    (so you can get rid of skype)

    Also also, I may be part of their hype-squad

    I wouldn't mind making the change, I feel like more people would use the easier in-browser chat system and it would also be potentially easier to control.

    Personally, I'd stick with TeamSpeak. We've used it for so long, and I like that it's something you have to go and open to use.
    However, Discord wouldn't be the end of the world if used.

    I don't want to make a new account for this (and I would have to because mod). I don't want to download yet another thing to talk to people when we already have the TS, which many other big servers use and so its easy to switch between servers that I want to talk to. I don't like how it looks, and just overall the slack format just doesn't look good to me. I have tried Discord and I did not like it, and would personally not be continuing my activity in the voice community if this change was forced upon us.

    Haven't used Discord much but from what I've heard, it basically has all of the TS features and more (such as bots) so it seems like an upgrade overall. I'm going with discord.

    Not quite sure; I usually chat in the Shoutbox anyway, but Discord seems to have its advantages. I'll go with that.

    I'd stick with teamspeak because i don't want to change to a skype teamspeak mix from my teamspeak with which i'm familiar
