Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"So, if we can't trust her, how do we get her back to the Void?"
Ihra keeps hugging Abigail.

Sgavrinn sniffs at Rineth's corpse sadly, looking over at Artemis.
"Master, he's gone..." He whines telepathically.

 

Abigail keeps hugging Ihra, shaken from the events.

"Well, if she's out cold for now, Stephanie and I could work on opening a portal, and you guys could try pushing her through it." I say.

Artemis puts her hand on Rineth's corpse mournfully; Rineth begins to melt into the earth, fertilising the ground.

"I'll give him a use in death." Artemis responds.

 

"That'd be difficult, but there's a lot of us. Maybe we can make it work. Rineth, could you- huh? Rineth?"

Ihra pats Abigail on the back, trying to be comforting.

Katie gets a gruesome image of Sebastian, who unfortunately didn't survive the fall.

 

"I'm sorry Ihra; he was slain." Artemis says sadly, decaying Rineth's body to feed the earth and plants.

Abigail is still rather shaken, but is comforted by Ihra.

Katie mourns her loss of a companion, "Artemis and I could form large hands to carry her through." She says, trying to distract herself from her dead pet.

"We should get moving. We don't know how much time we have; but we need as much as we can." I say.

 

"What?! No..."
Ihra looks back at Artemis and sighs.
"Well, I suppose we'll go with that plan. We don't have any other ideas or time to think of them. I can help stabilize the portal."

 

"Let's go, then." I say, walking back over to Xlentia.

Stephanie and Katie follow; Stephanie preparing crystals.

Artemis finishes decaying Rineth before running to catch up with us.

Stephanie and I stand on opposite sides of Xlentia's head; a large ring of equally large crystals surrounding Stephanie. I throw Shadow Katana into the ground between us, and we focus. A portal begins to form above Shadow Katana.

 

The portal's formation is accelerated slightly by Ihra's staff. It's stabilized, and set to lead into her palace.

 

Artemis and Katie stand on opposite sides of Xlentia, and raise their hands. Multiple hands erupt from the ground around Xlentia; ice, vine and wood. They all grab onto Xlentia and start pushing her through the portal.

Stephanie's crystals begin to dim and lose power; falling to the ground dull. Their drain is rather slow, however.

Abigail transforms into her dragon form once more, using the energy she reserved from earlier; making her slightly larger. She charges at Xlentia and starts pushing her too.

 

It takes a few minutes, but as Xlentia's tail finally falls the rest of the way through the portal, Ihra closes it.
"Again, I don't know what you did, but it's like you made her defeat herself."

 

"Maybe she did. She's fighting an internal battle; and I plan to hopefully save her from herself." I say, taking Shadow Katana from the ground and sheathing it.

Stephanie, Katie and Artemis seem exhausted. Abigail lies down, putting her head on the ground.

"That was harder than I expected..." Katie says, exhausted. She forms a small pool in front of her which she jumps in; floating on the surface.

"At least she's gone...for now." Artemis says, equally tired.

"Maybe we could finish that roleplaying from earlier..." Stephanie says, putting a pair of green crystal bracelets on, "Take our minds off it. Where's that 13 guy gone?".

"Sorry about what happened to Rineth, Ihra," Abigail says, "Maybe I could be your stand-in dragon?"

 

Before Xlentia is unconscious: "It's better to have the finest servants there are in your palace than lots of them. Also, a portal in the palace goes straight to some excellent mines, so that counts as treasure and jewels. The Darklands is essentially my treasure, and the Void Palace is my jewel."
After: "How... I don't even..."

Before: Even more drooling, and trees start to grow.
After: Hryth stops drooling and Hythania and Idala stare at Xlentia just in case she suddenly wakes up.

A portal forms and Arnold goes through it to Xlentia's palace (if possible).

"It's okay. I just... need a moment to mourn."
She shaliky walks over to where Rineth was.

She never wakes up.

Arnold makes it to her palace. She lies unconscious in her treasure horde. Most of the jewels are bigger than Arnold.

Her monsters and minions all look at Arnold suspiciously.
"You. Are you responsible for this?" A draconian asks.

 

A void flower resides amongst a field of brightly coloured ones; approximately where Rineth's head was lying.

"I feel...sleepy...I'm just gonna lie down...for a moment..." Artemis says, lying on a bed of cotton and falling asleep.

Katie falls asleep in her pool; sinking under the water.

"Aj I need a coffee...make me a coffee..." Stephanie says, drained of energy.

"You have a variety of potions, and you want a coffee? Surely one of your potions can do a better job than coffee." I reply.

"Make me a coffee...or I'll be Violet and...shoot you in the head for realsies." Stephanie says; her threat somewhat hollowed by her tiredness.

"Ugh, fine." I say, summoning a mug and some coffee beans.

 

Sgavrinn curls up around Artemis. Ihra cries herself to sleep.

Back to being in one place, it seems.

 

Abigail saunters over to Ihra and lays next to her, protecting her with a wing. Abigail soon joins the others and falls asleep.

I scoop up some water from Katie's pool and stir the coffee beans in, before adding some milk. I hand the coffee to Stephanie.

"Thanks; looks like we're on night watch." She says, drinking the coffee cold.

"Is it weird how this day has gone on for like...ages? It hasn't been night, which would be the best time for me." I say.

"Maybe they just don't have night; infinite days around two suns." Stephanie says, glancing upwards.

"Well, either way, it looks like we're going to be making sure nothing disturbs the others." I say, keeping an eye out for strangers.

"You take the first shift." Stephanie says, sitting down and summoning a chess board. Uniquely crafted crystal chess pieces rest either side; ready for battle.

 

It has been night a couple times.
In fact, it's sunset now.

It's quiet. Almost completely quiet.

 

I watch the sun descend below the horizon; smiling as I enter my preferred time. An aura of darkness begins to surround me.

Stephanie plays a game of chess with a forest fairy. She only seems to be about thrice the size of a chess piece, but doesn't mind. A soft green glow lights the area around her.

A light, blue glow surrounds Katie's pool; a green one surrounding Artemis, and a red one surrounding Abigail. The glow isn't enough to provide significant light, but is visible as an aura of sorts.

Stephanie winds up falling asleep as the night progresses; the fairy resting close to her.

 

As night starts to fall, Idala falls asleep. Eras stays awake the whole time.
Hryth becomes entangled in plants and starts to sleep. Aura curls up protectively around Idala.
Hythania also stays awake.

"No, I am not. If I were responsible, why would I come in after her? That's why those responsible didn't come here. The one responsible is a shadow named Aj. He... I'm not sure what he did. One second he was talking to Xlentia, the next she collapsed to the ground."

 

"Strange. Mistress must still be weakened... Why did you come here, then? Just know if you damage her palace, this will be your final resting place."

As night continues, itms still quiet. Only the occasional snore breaks the silence.

 

I remain awake, my red eyes glowing in the darkness; shadow vision cutting through its adverse effects on sight.

I dart around, occasionally checking on Stephanie and her forest fairy, Artemis and Sgavrinn, Abigail and Ihra, and Katie; making sure they're alright.

"What a night...So beautiful." I whisper to myself, glancing skyward.
