"If that's the case, he shouldn't be a problem. In theory, it's far easier to take over from someone else than actually controlling lots of minds. Of course, he would need a distraction before he could attempt to control the Hive Master and then a team of fighters to take down the Hunters and the Hive Master, me to boost his power slightly and protect him and more allies to help evacuate your people."

 

"What if I told you the only way to free Xlentia would be to become her?"

 

"What do you mean? Become Xlentia or Ihra?" Artemis asks.

 

"Conversation can continue momentarily. There they are."

"Sarin!"
"Lyla... Welcome to not The Hive! Finally."
"Heh... It's still surreal."

"Become Xlentia."

 

"How would I, or anyone for that matter, do that?" Artemis asks.

 

"Beats me. The prophets said that's the only way."

 

"From what Aj said, Xlentia seemed alright. I mean, as in mental state, not intentions." Artemis says.

 

"Then whoever's controlling her knows what they're doing."

 

"What do you mean? Is there a greater power?" Artemis asks, curious.

 

"Welcome to Brisingr and the rest of this world."

 

"Apparently..."

"Thanks."
Lyla bows.
"Do you hail from The Darklands Reflet spoke of?"


A decent sized ring appears on the ground nearby.

 

"Guuuuuyyssss I'm boooooooreeeeed." Abigail says as she walks over, clearly bored.

"I could taste your blood." Artemis says, a slight evil to her tone.

"Good luck with that." Abigail says, extending her claws.

 

"You could fly around on Sgavrinn."

 

"I think I have flight covered." Abigail says, extending her dragon wings and hovering with her magma boots.

"Can't we go to Brisingr? Like, tie Ihra to a rope and drag her along?" Abigail asks.

 

"That'd be awkward but plausible. Who has a rope?"

 

"I think Aj might, though I have no idea where he is."

Artemis ponders for a moment, before suddenly screaming "HELP! PLEASE! SOMEBODY HELP ME! ANYONE, PLEASE!"

I appear next to Artemis almost instantly, "What's wrong? Are you hurt?" I say, concerned.

Artemis grins.

"We need a rope to tie Ihra to." Abigail says.

"Oh...ok." I say in a slightly depressed manner, summoning a long, tough looking rope in my hands.

 

"Are you okay, Aj? We didn't need to be so hard on you."

 

"It's nothing, just another one of my mess ups." I say, looking away.

Artemis hugs me, "Sucking at something is the first step to being sorta good at something." She says, smiling.

I hug Artemis.

 

"We all mess up. Don't worry about it."

The crystal explodes. Ihra looks older.
"Rineth, the hell did you do?"
"How were the five millennia stuck in a crystal?"

Rineth gets KO'd and sent flying with a swing of Ihra's staff.
"IT WAS SHIT!!"
