Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Rineth groans.
"Burrrrrn th flohwurs..." He barely utters.
"Thlll keel us..."

 

Artemis, who seems completely unaffected by the flowers, starts causing the remaining flowers to wither away.

"Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" I say as I roll through the withered remains of the flowers.

 

Rineth snaps out of it relatively fast.
"Ihra! Never do that again!"
"Rrrlllllllllllllllaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh"
"Well... Guess we're going to stay here longer. Again."

 

"Blblblblblblblblblblblblbllblblblb." I say, rolling around.

"Perhaps weaponising the alchemical properties of these flowers against Ihra's 'End of Innocence' state isn't such a great idea." Stephanie says.

"What do those flowers do to you?" Artemis asks.

 

"The toxin is a powerful anesthetic. The aroma is an odd sort; that attaches the toxin to your blood."

Now that he mentions it, Ihra does look a tinge of blue.

 

"I'm blue da ba de da ba die, da ba dee da ba die, da ba dee da ba die..." I sing, rolling around.

"Sounds rather nasty; where are the flowers commonly found?" Artemis asks.

"I have a blue house with a blue window..." I continue to sing.

"I'll get the duct tape." Stephanie says, said duct tape appearing in her hand.

 

"Many Sages work with them. They're in gardens in our homeworld. They retain their scent if you 'sate' them, so to speak, with blood. Sometimes, they're used for a perfume in that sense. The Rites provide more than enough blood, after all...
Otherwise, they're an execution method."

 

"Mi-ah hee, Mi-ah hoo, mi-ah haa, mi-ah ha ha!" I sing. Stephanie duct tapes my mouth shut.

"That sounds horrible! I don't think I could allow nature to torture a being like that!" Artemis says.

I start dancing around idiotically, my voice barely penetrating the duct tape.

"I regret giving you that elixir..." Stephanie says.

 

Rineth separates Aj from the group with his wing. The singing is muffled.

"That's one of three lethal toxins from our world. All of them brutal in their own way."

 

I wind up falling over by the force of Rineth's wing, yet I still dance around on the ground.

"The other two toxins...?" Artemis asks, somewhat nervously.

 

"One is a byproduct of the material we used to use for weapons. The other eats away at a victim's soul directly."

 

Artemis shivers.

"Well, that sounds pleasant." Stephanie says sarcastically.

Abigail murmurs in her sleep a little; her hair no longer on fire.

 

"All used to suppress the 'Resistance,' as The Hive calls it. Stereotypical but fitting. They've given up long ago, they just want it all over with. Vesius and crew still insist on looking for another world to evacuate."

 

"The Hive?" Artemis asks.

"So you're just going to hop from universe to universe, each one being destroyed by an evil force you own?" Stephanie asks.

 

"Not... not exactly. Only our homeworld's at stake, assuming the word 'only' is to your liking... It certainly isn't for me.

The Hive is a group of mind controlled draconians. They rule our homeworld and have since... they've always been in rule. They're the vast majority of our population, but their links will be severed if the Hive Master dies. It was complete chaos the one time it happened... Or so they say."

 

"So it's a massive hive mind..." Artemis says.

"Your homeworld seems like the aftermath of an evil villain taking over, mind controlling the heroes to control the masses." Stephanie says.

Abigail stirs.

 

"Yeah. When they fight, they move and act perfectly in sync. It's horrifying; defense wasn't a post anyone held for long."

 

"Ugh, maybe you have reason to flee then." Stephanie says.

"They...they have no free will..." Artemis says, somewhat shocked.

 

"I'm probably going to regret this, but could you bring them here?" I ask

The wind picks up as Zethes and Kalais desolate into the wind. Khione follows soon after.

"Correct, Artemis. That is what Vesius broke from, Ihra was protected from, and Riihs was exiled from. Our world is barely intact. As Fragments, their job is to preserve their race... yet it seems increasingly unlikely as time goes on."
Rineth seems saddened by the thought.
