Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Why aren't I just a being made of fire then..." Abigail says, rubbing her head.

"I would've thought plants have some resistance to fire; but you are a special case." Artemis says.

 

"I know you're watching. Remember, so far I have only attacked you after being attacked or confronted. Attack me again, and people will be hurt."
Arnold speaks a few words and a strange wyvern which looks slightly like a fish emerges from the ground. Arnold climbs onto it and the wyvern slides back into the ground again.

 

"Not funny." Ihra grumbles.

"Wrong. You engaged, I responded. If you are blind to your own actions, then I'm not even sure how you can plan ahead at all."

A beam of light smites the wyvern, leaving dust.
"Now you get to justify that statement. I won't cooperate as much next time."

 

"It's sarcasm. I'm an elemental guardian, who controls fire. You're weak to fire. I'm the exact opposite person you want." Abigail says, holding her head in pain.

"You can still help her by granting her protection against fire, though." Stephanie responds.

"And now I know I can heal Ihra directly, so if she does get hurt by any fire, I can heal her." Artemis adds.

 

"If you can react fast enough. This is Ihra's shed skin..."
"Where'd you get that?"
"You molted in my mouth... Thank the gods I can't taste anything."
"Ugh... I do that?"

"Abigail, burn it. See how fast it flares up from a small spark."

A hollow cast of Ihra's tail is set on the ground.
"And Ihra? Stay back."
"Don't need to tell me twice."

 

"Oh god, euuuugghhh, I think I'm going to be sick." Stephanie says at the thought of Ihra molting in Rineth's mouth. Stephanie summons a potion to try and stop her sickness, but runs off to puke before she can drink it.

"Ew, alright." Abigail says, throwing a small fireball at the skin.

I disappear, and Katie melts into the ground.

Multiple sounds of puking can be heard a short distance away. Artemis seems to be able to hold her stomach, as does Abigail.

 

The fireball hits the tip of the shed tail, and in less than a second, all that remains is a pile of ash.
"And that... is why I'm scared of you."

 

"I'm pretty sure the others are fairly scared, or at least sickened, by you." Abigail says, staring at the pile of ash.

"Don't you have some sort of control over the shedding of your skin?" Artemis asks.

 

"Yeah... I only do it every five thousand years-ish. So I don't know."

"Ihra, let's not do that again. You got the point across without showing Raleh's death over and over and over."
"I still miss her."
"You never met her!"
"Still."

 

"Raleh?" Artemis asks, curious.

Stephanie walks back over, picking up the phial she dropped and uncorking it; drinking it immediately. I appear next to Stephanie, as well as Katie; who forms on the other side. Stephanie hands the phial to me, which I drink from and hand to Katie; who drinks too.

"I don't know what's worse, the skin shedding or the puking." I say queasily.

"They're both equally terrible." Katie says, clearly unwell.

"You just threw up water; it was worse for Aj and I." Stephanie says, trying to get the last drips from her phial.

 

"Raleh was the only Sage draconian to fight in a battle to defend our homeworld. Rightfully so; none ever came after her. A spark from her clashing blade set her ablaze."

 

"Wait, you and your kind are part-dragon right?" Abigail asks.

 

"Rineth, may I?"
"I'm watching."

Ihra slams her staff into the ground after getting up. A bright glow surrounds her, and she emerges as a normal dragon.
"Yes, we are. We can revert."

 

"Well then why the hell are you vulnerable to fire!? Dragons are immune to that, because they breathe it!" Abigail says, frustrated.

"Are we transforming into dragons now? Abigail, do your dragon transformation!" I say.

"That's a waste of magic, Aj." Abigail says flatly, turning to me.

 

Ihra exhales, and foliage grows on the ground. She hisses, and a jet of acid melts them down again.

"Just like Rineth never breathed fire."

 

"...You dragons are weird." Abigail says.

"Abigail, surely you knew of the existence of dragons that breathe elements other than fire?" Artemis asks.

"Yeah but...most dragons have at least some resistance to fire; they don't burn up faster than a hay pile in a pool of lava." Abigail replies.

 

"Well... Sage dragons aren't meant to be near fire. They're supposed to be healers."

 

"Oh great sage bird of the ages!" I chant, laughing to myself.

"There's clearly a large cultral gap here..." Abigail says, "You're a dragon with no resistance to fire whatsoever."

"I think it's quite amazing you can 'revert' like that." Stephanie says, having gotten over her sickness.

 

Ihra spits at you before going back to draconian form.
"I see why it's strange, but I don't see why you hate me for it."

 

I dodge the spit, letting the ground burn away.

"I don't hate you, it's just really weird you have no resistance to fire, but are also a dragon." Abigail says.
