The Province of Corkus Returns Once Again!

Content team member @Tantibus announces the long joked-about Province of Corkus as an April Fool's prank.

On the 1st of April, the news about the upcoming “Corkus Update”, featuring a province where “everything you’ve ever dreamed could become reality”, bruited quick through the community. The added changelog lists many features, most of which are in contradiction with currently existing ones or based off community jokes, such as ”new quests, where you have to run back and forth across the whole Canyon of the Lost”, and the transformation of all pets into “Squiggles the Squid”. Lost in puns, the idea for the Corkus province originates from a pre-Wipe thread which suggested a new province, and had a detailed list of features which would be added. Unfortunately, the forum community didn’t take it too seriously, and the province soon became a running gag which was used by staff members and players alike.

Forums Member Shows Possibilities to Add Interactive Landscapes In-game!

A Wynncraftian suggests a more interactive environment, created using several command block tricks.

Last weekend, the community member @(Meric) presented several ways to improve quests and the landscape, using command blocks to create interactive elements such as pushable blocks and rising lava.
Inspired by showcases made by the well-known redstoner @Logstoneable, he suggests a lava parkour as an extra difficulty in boss fights, or stalagmites falling from the ceiling of a cave.

If those ideas could be applied, and in how far they are multiplayer friendly is a question left for discussion. However, with the recent recruitment of several commandblockers for the content team, we should expect to see new, unique puzzles and mechanics soon! For the original article, click here.

Abandonedbank Gives His Opinion on Being a GM and Moderator

As a continuation of Gavel Gazette’s collaboration with Valkyrie’s Project Awareness, we interviewed the very witty and loved @Abandonedbank about his role as a Game Master and Moderator for Wynncraft.

Out of all the quests you have made or helped to make, which is your favorite and why?
I don't like any of my quests. I always see issues, and things I could have done better. I don't like my work, and I am actually always really confused whenever I see you guys loving quests that I personally see obvious problems with.

In your opinion, what is the best part about being a GM?
I'd say the best part is hanging out with the Content Team, I personally really don't like playing Wynncraft anymore, and I haven't for a long time, but I do enjoy the Content Team, and working with the builders.

Do you prefer making quests, items, or mobs and why?
Quests, I don't understand the math behind balancing elements in mobs, or items. Plus mobs are very tedious so I just hate them. Of course I can do all 3, easily because I'm the Best GM.

Is there a single specific memory of being a GM that you enjoyed that you would like to share?
This one time I was sitting around with the mod team and the content team and we were fucking with people in the lobby. We would always troll them and laugh about releasing or fake leaking Gavel.

How do you think people's perceptions of you have changed since you became a mod?
Well at first they were pretty shocked and they didn't want to accept it, especially because of Grian’s [stupid fucking 'secret mod'] idea. It was honestly probably not changed as I've really grown and pretty much act the same, a fun joking around kinda guy.

What's your favorite part of being a mod?
Truth be told I really don't like it. The mods are the opposite of me, they're all hardasses, and I'm more of a laid-back chill kinda guy. I also don't really like the kind of negative attention that some mods get even when the people have NO idea what they're talking about. Honestly I would quit but 1. I like the attention and love, 2. I have wanted it for so long (almost 3 years) that it feels too stupid to let it go.

What do you think now when looking back at the rules you broke and getting banned?
Fucking worth it. It helped make me become who I am today, and people who remember me from back then, like @Pretzule can definitely agree I am a lot better now than I was, but I did need to go through that to become who I am today.

If you had to choose, would you rather be a GM or a mod, and why?
GM. I like its tag color.

An interactive map and quests would be amazing. Might even be one of the things that has been missing. Wynn does need more immersion to it to actually pull the players into the world instead of just derping about doing things that don't really have that great of an impact.
Banky-BankBank is awesome as both a Mod and GM.

imo wynncraft is great but it's the friends I met on here that are much more important to me then the game. I've been on here for two years and I met dozens of people that are now my good friends that I talk to on a regular basis in different group chats on skype and slack. If I never played wynncraft it would actually have had a big impact on my life.

Theirs always two sides of a mod and two sides of a moderating group- you need all the aspects to understand all the problems and help fix them. Even ego is good in some cases, you'll stand up for what you believe in and wont give a shit about what the people who know less (yes us players) think.
