Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

(I'm assuming this is Riihs)
A giant vine suddenly explodes from the ground in front of you. A tiny blue flower echoes quietly to you, "Please, I ask that you don't help Eras. Maybe this can be avoided if everyone just...stops helping Eras. Also, please sit this battle out. Please."

(For Aj)
You see me sprouting and watching the battle that is to come, occasionally murmuring things. It seems I have no intention of getting involved

"Lovely. Make sure the Drakonshade doesn't target my flower form. I'm attempting to tell Riihs to sit this one out. If he does, well, one less person for the Drakonshade to be bothered with. Oh and by the way, I was able to raise a semi-truce with the three. This should give me enough time to do as I wish with my flower form without them breathing down my neck."

 

"I wish I could, but the one you side with will kill my daughter. I may wish they stop attacking you, but I will not gamble with her life."
The vine is cleaved through in one hesitant swing, and Riihs just keeps going.

 

Flowers that you run by echo words to you, eventually forming a sentence. "But...he...doesn't...need...to...as...it...can...be...avoided"

 

"He's using you as an excuse. I didn't want to harm you, but if you try and block an attack for that monster, I'll let you. And I guarantee your death will then be swift."

 

"I will not block an attack for that Drakonshade. I have better things to do than waste my body on that." Vines start erupting from the ground, but only beside you. They don't reach in. They just stay there for a few seconds, before going back into the earth.

 

"All of you are blinded by anger, but that robot? There's something entirely off with it. It has a master plan, and it just so happens yours works with his."

 

No response, but you are more than sure I am listening.

 

"I've noticed. I just hope she doesn't ever freak out again."

The foxes yelp as the ice pierces them. They lay there, blood flow unstopping. Avis whimpers and jumps off of Xephyr's shoulder, sniffing the bodies.

 

"We all do."

"Sorry girl, but as hard as it is, it's you or them. Your parents sacrificed themselves if you're still alive, which you are. They wanted you to have a good, long life. I can't make it softer for you, but at least stick with me. Just keep going, keep living. Make them proud."
She scratches Avis' back.

 

Reflet goes on without saying anything for a while. Then "You might want to come up now. We're nearing Arcventer Ravine, and you'll probably end up digging yourself into a bottomless chasm if you stay underground."

Avis' whimper gradually changes into a purr, and she nods.

 

"Oh, fun."
I surface and take in my surroundings.
"Thanks for the warning."

Xephyr picks up and hugs Avis.
"I'm sorry, honey... We'll make it, though. You're safe with me."
She looks to see if she can spot anything else.

 

"Mhmm..."
The ravine is nothing if not desolated. The ground is rigid and laced in cracks, some many times bigger than the rest.

At random intervals, lava and flames shoot out of the crevices like geysers. Some of the lava ends up pooling on the ground.

And the flames shooting out of the ground seem to take shape. A flaming lion bounds out of an eruption. Sometimes even a dragon made out of flames shoots up, roaring and flying for a few seconds before disappearing in a plume of smoke.

A red dragon flies over the plains, heading towards Xephyr's location fast.

 

"It's almost like the lava is sentient..."

"Slow down, why don't you?"
Xephyr launches a barrage of ice spikes at the dragon.

 

"It miiight~ be."

In response, the dragon roars and unleashes a vortex of flame at the ice.

 

"Are you having a little fun with me?"
-----
"Okay, sweetheart... I may be old, but I suppose that means I have to put you in your place?"
The temperature drops significantly. A wall of ice is put up between Xephyr and the dragon, and frost starts forming on the dragon's wings.

More ice spikes to keep it busy.

 

A little flaming kitten bounds out of a crevice. "No idea what your talking about."

The dragon ducks under the spikes and lands, snarling. His wings light on fire, and he unleashes a torrent of fire at the ice wall, holding it out for as long as possible.

Behind the dragon, three lightly armored (their armor is fur) warriors arrive. One of them draws a sword of ice, one an ice bow, and the last an ice axe.

 

"Hahah! Ihra would love that. If it wasn't fire. Still."

"Who are you? How dare you hunt a child!"

The temperature drops even more. The warriors' breath freeze shortly after they exhale.

The ice wall doesn't relent.

 

"Yep. A person would love it if it didn't want to burn them to a crisp. Pretty accurate summary of my long life."

A man materializes on the dragon, being previously invisible. "Lariuth. And that's Khione, Zethes, and Kalais." He says, gesturing to the swords woman (...swords teenager?) archer, and axeman respectively. "Which child are we talking about here? The one who hides been a sheet of ice or the one who actually has an excuse for being dimwitted and weak?" He makes an exaggerated look of scrutiny.

The ice archer, Zethes, draws his bow but otherwise makes no move to attack.

The air around the dragon heats up in response to the temperature drop,

 

"So, people love you until you burn them...? I don't get it."

"I'm older than that insult, you sub-millennial. As for Avis, I..."
The ice wall recedes.
"You're the ones who killed her parents, weren't you? Well, I've got news for you -
YOU'RE NOT TOUCHING THE ORPHAN."

Dark thunderbolts come out of Xephyr's claws as the temperature drops so low, the dragons can't warm it up enough to prevent freezing.
"THE TEMPERATURE WHERE EVERYTHING STOPS MOVING IS ABSOLUTE ZERO. MIGHT I ALSO MAKE IT THE TEMPERATURE YOU EXPIRE?!"
The temperature continues dropping.

 

"No. People hate me because I can burn them. That doesn't mean I will, as much as this kitten will jump on Ihra and murder her."

"Jeez okay." Khione mutters. "Cut off the steroids. Hey Lariuth? Maybe this isn't the best ti-"

"We're staying."

"But she's completely insa-" Zethes hits her with his bow.

"Shut up."

"Right, sorry." This whole exchange only takes a few seconds.

Zethes fires an arrow, which is completely frost coated, at Xephyr. Khione circles around to the left and attacks, while Kalais attacks to the right. Lariuth's dragon engulfes himself in flames and charges from the front, claws outstretched.
