Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Interesting... I was just curious. Sorry."
I look at the eggs again.
"Where do you keep the hatchlings?"

 

The mage gestures to a spiral staircase in the center of the room. "They're in the topmost room. It's mostly so they can learn how to fly and can roam easily when they get big enough."

 

"Could I take a look, or might there be adverse effects?"

 

"It would probably be fine. Hardly any of the dragons are even old enough to process too much thought..."

 

"They remind me of the hatchling that th... they put through...

...Damnit, I hated those times.
Sorry, forget I said anything. I'm following."

 

The mage looks worried, but they decide to ignore it. They go up the stairs to the rooms above, with you in tow.

You pass a few rooms before arriving at the top of the tower. It's a relatively small room with a locked door leading to a balcony overlooking the city.

A few baby dragons are asleep on cushions, while a few are eating, and some play fighting.

 

"Seems you've got quite the job up here."

 

I still look very cross, and I stop the rain with a flick of my fingers. I say another spell, and all of a sudden a fireball starts rushing towards the Fire Guardian.

 

The magic is quickly drawn into the gauntlet, so fast it almost seems as though the magic did nothing at all. Immediately afterwards, the area directly around it darkens to the point where the gauntlet itself is too dark to be seen. The dark aura about the gauntlet shimmers and turns in a mystifying and hypnotic way, swirling about (like soap and food coloring in milk).

"Yeah. Watching the dragons fly free is well worth it, though." They set the Venomknife down on a cushion.

 

"I can imagine. Wind flowing beneath wings is a feeling that sedom gets old..."
I look at the other dragons, particularly any near me.

 

Ihra yelps.

 

Abigail flinches a little.

I stand in the way of the fireball, taking it's force entirely. It chars a small hole where it hits, yet I seem fine.

You suddenly notice Gaia's Scythe against your neck.

"Try and harm Abigail once, and you lose Leo. Try and harm Abigail twice, and I'll cause you immense pain. Try and harm Abigail thrice, and you die. Strike One." Artemis says from behind, anger in her voice.

In a swift motion, Artemis uses her scythe to take Leo, cutting the string and launching the soul crystal upwards, before catching it.

"Any last words for Leo?" Artemis says with a corrupt tone.

 

"Fire ball... Fire guardian... Not meant to be a threat."

"Yes - you're a shit life guardian."
The Vei summon snatches the crystal.

Ihra looks at you in shock.

 

"I... I created a very powerful spell early in the history of the Darklands. The spell creates all of the monsters and even stretches through the portals into the Void to create creatures like the Drakonshades and into the sea to create Sea Serpents and other sea monsters. If I want to, I can give the spell itself a life force for a short amount of time, sort of like a temporary soul. I haven't tried it before... for good reasons. In the past, I have sworn to use it in several, dire situations. This is one of them... not only that, but possibly the worst."
I take the stone figure out of my robes.
"The thing is, they are going to take a lot to destroy. And even then, we will be too late. They have us trapped in at least three different ways. I can't tell anyone these ways... this trap is far too dangerous to think about."

 

"Exactly. do you really think throwing a fireball at a Fire Guardian is a wise idea to kill them? I highly doubt that. If Count Drake had wanted to kill the Fire Guardian, he could've just summoned some water magic and other things, rather than a fireball. A Fireball!" Echoes Leo, sounding pretty offended. I stay silent, and just ignore Artemis while I continue to study the spellbook, memorizing spells.

 

"So we have a fallen destroyer and a genocidal robot. Fantastic."
"Rineth... do you remember any others?"
"...No."
"We'll need more."

 

Artemis glares at Vei, yet lets the soul crystal be taken.

"You shouldn't assume things. It tends to make an ASS out of U and ME," I say, "Water is incredibly weakening to Flame Guardians, which can cause them to lose some of their resistance to fire. Throwing a fireball at them isn't the best idea if they're weakened like that."

Artemis walks over and makes sure Abigail is alright. Abigail shivers slightly, pulling my cloak around herself.

"Should've killed him when I had the chance..." Artemis quietly mutters under her breath.

 

"Give them a break, else I can still go back and kill you when we first met." Vei mutters.

Rineth glances at her.
"Don't cause another paradox. I'm the one who made the mistake of saving them, if it proves to be a mistake."

 

Artemis glares at Vei, before whispering something to me.

I disappear in a blue flash, before re-appearing in the same flash.

Artemis grins.

Abigail feebly reaches out and hugs me, shivering.
